termed artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence (AI)
is the fastest growing phenomenon of technology. AI has
the potential to tackle the intelligence tasks of the human
mind such as problem-solving, reasoning, and adoption
of decisions (Hassani et al., 2020).

In the recent era, Artificial intelligence is an interesting
technology and it has applications in every field of science and
engineering.
Advancement of AI technology has been changing the
landscape of businesses.
In the education sector, AI anticipates the performance of
students and strategically helps them in completing their tasks.
AI provides different teaching methodologies in education.
AI helps to solve the various scientific uncertainties (Raj &
Kos, 2023).
Role of AI in Education
Education is an important sector of society. In the education sector, Artificial Intelligence has
comprehensively been adopted. Intelligent education systems and computer-based technologies have
been extensively used in education institutions.
The application of AI technology has significantly upgraded the education system.
Both education and AI are connected with each other. Education is the development of the mind
by getting knowledge and AI helps to get accurate and adequate information.
AI provides quick, flexible, and innovative solutions to problems and reduces complexities in
decision-making, reasoning, planning, and learning.
AI helps to improve the experience of teaching and learning by providing effective learning
management system (Ahmad et al., 2021)
Benefits of AI in education
Artificial Intelligence has been playing a significant role in
education. Different technologies and applications of AI are
important traits of development in the education sector.

performing the duties of instructors.
With the help of AI, administrative functions such as checking
assignments and grading of students have efficiently been used
by instructors.

and improves the efficiency of instructional activities in
educational institutes (Zhang & Aslan, 2021).

Role of AI in Higher Education
With time, technology has become a valuable tool for solving
problems in social and economic sectors. In the education
sector, many facets have been changed due to technology. In
higher education, advancement in AI has been playing a
significant role.
Cost and time spent on higher education have been
reduced due to ubiquitous education.
AI enhances the learning process of educators by
providing them with effective and systematic learning
plans.

Challenges of AI in Education
Advancements and technologies of Artificial Intelligence have the potential to
change every aspect of society. The models of AI have been solving pertinent
problems in education sectors. But there are also many challenges of using
Artificial Intelligence in education.
All the students do not have equal access to appropriate and reliable data.
Sometimes AI provides biased data. This could lead to ineffective research
and reasoning in the education sector.
The use and implementation of AI technology require proper training of
teachers. Without proper training, AI tools can not be properly utilized.
AI tools such as computers and software contain all the information related
to students and lessons.
AI tools are machines and any impairment in these machines results in loss
of data.

Proper implementation of AI in all educational institutes is a challenge. Because before
implementation, there is a need to understand the compatibility of AI tools with the
education system.
Some policymakers are impervious and resist the implementation of AI technologies in
education sectors. The conservative principles of these people impede the adoption of
advanced technologies.
The use of AI for learning, reasoning, and planning could reduce the capability of
reasoning and thinking in humans.
Sometimes biased data provided by AI raises ethical problems. Questions about the
transparency of data are also raised (Sijing & Lan, 2018).
Disadvantages for Students
The application of AI in the field of education has also many disadvantages.
These challenges must be identified and addressed in appropriate way.
The use of AI tools has considerably reduced social interaction.
Due to AI teaching methodologies, the opportunities for interaction between
teachers and students have been decreased.
Too much dependence on AI technology has decreased the critical thinking
and analyzing skills in students.
More reliance on AI tools in the class could cause addiction to technology in
students (Tao et al., 2019).

With the passage of time, Artificial Intelligence will enter every sector of life.
The use of applications associated with artificial intelligence in education
sectors has been increasing. AI provides different innovative tools for
education such as robots, learning management systems, and computer-based
technology. In the education sector, AI has been playing a beneficial role by
enhancing the efficiency of assessment systems. However, overdependence on
AI has also been causing various problems such as reduced social interaction
and addiction to technology. These challenges need to be considered and
addressed effectively.
