Skeletal System

The skeletal system is the body's internal framework, consisting of 206 bones in adults, which supports, shapes, protects vital organs, and aids in movement. It is divided into the axial skeleton, which protects organs, and the appendicular skeleton, which supports movement. Joints, cartilage, ligaments, and tendons play crucial roles in facilitating movement and connecting bones and muscles.

Two division of skeletal system
Axial
Skeleton
Protects the delicate organs in the body.
It includes the skull, vertebral column,
ribs, and sternum.

Appendicular
Skeleton
Provides support and aids in movement.

It includes the bones of the shoulder (collarbones,

hands (carpal bones), hips (hipbone), legs (femur),
and feet (tarsal bones).
Joints
These are formed between two
bones. It is a point where two

neck
Cartilage
These are fibrous tissues
that coated the end part of
the bones (covers the end
part of the bone).

It helps the bone move and

it lubricates the bone.
Ligament
s
These are made of very
thick and elastic
materials that allows
bones to not to separate
even if they do a lot of
movement.
connect the bones.
Tendon
These are s
made of tough
materials that
connect muscle
to a bone.
