The 5 DIMENSIONS OF THE SELF
The physical self
is defined by physical characteristics
that are visible (e., sex, weight, height,
complexion, hair, facial features, etc.)
Body image is part of self-image.
Our body image includes more than what we look like
or how others see us. It also refers to how we think, feel,
and react to our own perception of our physical attributes.
Body image development is affected by cultural images
and the influence of family, peers, and others.
The Emotional Self
The Emotional Self
It is the part of you that deals with feelings, “good” or “bad.”
Embracing it allows you to develop greater self-awareness and empathy,
express yourself openly, and cultivate healthy coping strategies
to deal with life's ups and downs.
Intellectual self is the
ability to apply logic, knowledge and
understanding in your everyday action as a
human being. ... The Self refers to us, our
very own well-being, and the word
intellectual refers to our understanding or
our judgments.
The Social self refers to how we perceive ourselves in relation to others.
It involves relationship building, empathizing, and communicating.
A healthy, or not so healthy, social self will also impact
your overall mental wellbeing and ability to meet life goals.
The moral self refers to having a system of beliefs or set of values relating
to right conduct. It is how behavior is judged to be acceptable or unacceptable .
