Shannon and Weaver model refers to a two-way process that


reinforces that the message needs to be deconstructed if there is
a greater noise or disturbance to lessen ambiguity.

• Shannon and Weaver model helps us understand


how messages travel and how noise can make
communication unclear.
• When noise increases, the message may become
confusing or unclear.
• the receiver (or even the sender) may need to
deconstruct the message—break it down, ask
questions, or seek clarification.
• the receiver can give feedback and ask for clarification to
reduce misunderstanding. 8

Charles Osgood’s model explains the circular process in which


the roles of being a source and a receiver can be interchanged
and done simultaneously with the help of a feedback mechanism.
