Function description
ENGINE SPEED CONTROL

Electronically controlled via operation of throttle pedal or

the joystick

Throttle ( accelerator pedal)

•Disabled (OFF) when direction lever is in neutral
•Disabled (OFF) when parking brake is applied
•Enabled (ON ) when a direction is selected
Joystick
•Enabled (ON) when throttle is disabled

Function description
ENGINE SPEED CONTROL

Joystick

•Lift & extension functions: Beyond 40% of the joystick

movement the engine speed starts to increase. Further
joystick movement progressively increases the engine
speed up to its maximum when the joystick is fully
operated

•Retraction function: Beyond 40% of the joystick

movement the engine speed starts to increase as above.
However only up to 40% of the maximum engine speed
when the joystick is fully operated

•Lower function: The engine will remain at low idle

Function description
ENGINE SPEED CONTROL

The joystick control of the engine speed is overridden by

the following:

Slowdown:

•End of cylinder stroke ramp down

•Minimum radius ramp down

•Maximum load ramp down

•Hydraulic temperature from 70C to 90C the engine

speed is progressively reduced to 50%

Function description
ENGINE SPEED CONTROL

The joystick control of the engine speed is overridden by

the following:

Stop:

•Twistlocks not properly locked

•Twistlocks seated
•End of cylinder stroke
•Minimum radius
•Maximum overload limit (105%)
•Hydraulic oil level low (only affects lift & extend)
•WDO error

Function description
PARKING BRAKE

Parking brake can be applied manually or automatically

•Manually by applying the parking brake switch on the

drivers right side

•Automatically by the truck remaining stationary for

more than 4 seconds (adjustable from 4sec to 10 min )

The automatic application of the parking brake can be

also automatically released. This is done when a direction
is selected & the throttle pedal is depressed more than
5%.

Function description
INCHING

Proportional inching can be turned on or off by adjusting

the parameter functions of the IQAN computer system

Proportional inching improves the inching performance,

but this function is only active under 5 km/h this function
is explained in more detail in brake system section

It should be noted that over 5 km/h when applying

the service brake & throttle at the same time can
result is driving against the brakes. This is bad
driving practice & must be avoided.

Function description
TRUCK SPEED REDUCTION

The truck speed is reduced to 5km/h when:

•Loads of 70% & above the maximum truck capacity at

any given boom angle or length handled

•The boom length exceeds the limit of 9300mm

Therefore if a load of under 70% capacity is retracted the

truck will operate at full travel speed

Function description
GEAR SELECTION

Default gear is 2nd starting. However 1st gear can be

selected by the driver pushing the button at the end of
the gear selector switch. Pushing the button again reverts
to the truck starting of in 2nd gear once more.

The gear selection is automatic, semi automatic selection

by the driver is possible by turning the direction lever

Function description
IQAN & MDM INFORMATION

Driving: Actual gear & fuel level in liters displayed

Lifting: Actual weight & maximum capacity

At 70% capacity & above the display will flash actual

weight & a percentage capacity at that boom position for
2.5 seconds

Total tonnage is displayed after lifting a container for

more than 6 seconds together with the total number of
containers lifted. This function will reset to zero after the
limit of 32000 tons has been reached

OTHER DRIVER INFORMATION

Apart from the MDM located in the upper right corner of

the drivers cabin, there is also a display lower down on
the right hand consul

This gives the driver information on a LCD display

Engine rpm
Engine coolant temperature
Speed of truck
Fuel level (in liters & %)

This will also display engine related errors*

Service interval warning can also be set & displayed

Function description
OTHER DRIVER INFORMATION

Warning lights & buzzers are activated for a few seconds

during start up

The central warning lamp position in front of the steering

wheel illuminates when there is a WDO error or a driver
error

The illumination of the central warning lamp is

accompanied by the main alarm buzzer

A second buzzer (quieter) will sound when the load lifted

exceeds 70% of capacity, its sound will increase up to
100% capacity
