INHALER AND TYPES
INHALER
An inhaler is a medical device that delivers
medication directly to the lungs, typically
used to treat respiratory conditions like
asthma and COPD.
It works by dispensing a measured dose of
medicine, often in the form of a mist or
powder, which is inhaled through the mouth
and into the airways.

TYPES OF INHALER
There are three main types of inhalers:
1)Metered Dose Inhalers (MDIs),
2) Dry Powder Inhalers (DPIs),
3) Soft Mist Inhalers (SMIs)
Metered Dose Inhalers (MDIs)
The pressurized metered dose inhaler as
metered dose inhalers is the most commonly
used delivery system for aerosol delivery of
medications.
Metered dose inhalers offer multiple advantages
such as portability, no external power source is
required and formulation of a fixed-dose is
delivered.
This preferred device pMDIs can be used to
administer medications such as bronchodilators,
steroids, anti-inflammatory agents, and anti-
cholinergics.

Dry Powder Inhalers (DPIs)
A dry-powder inhaler (DPI) is a device that
delivers medication to the lungs in the form
of a dry powder.
DPIs are commonly used to treat respiratory
diseases such as asthma, bronchitis.
Dry Powder Inhalers (DPIs)
Soft Mist Inhalers (SMIs)
Soft mist inhalers (SMIs) are a type of
inhaler that delivers medication as a slow,
fine mist, making it easier for patients to
inhale and deposit the drug deep into the
lungs.
They are propellant-free and utilize
mechanical power to aerosolize the
medication.
