The document discusses the challenges of campus accommodation due to increasing student populations and an unfair first-come, first-served application system. It proposes a new system linking accommodation eligibility to academic performance, aiming to reduce administrative pressure, ensure equality, and motivate students to excel academically. The methodology includes surveys, database design, and a web-based application to automate the selection process based on academic records.

CAMPUS

ACCOMODATION
APPLICATION
COMPUTER PROGRAMMING
GROUP 7
INTRODUCTION

• Universities are experiencing a steady increase in student population,

leading to insufficient campus accommodation.
• The current first-come, first-served application system favors fast
applicants, leaving slower ones without housing every semester.
• This situation creates a disappointment in students and administration
pressure, as demand exceeds available hostel capacity.
• The existing system seems unfair, as every student deserves an equal
chance to benefit from campus housing.
CONT.…

• Our project seeks to introduce a fair yet unfair structured

process to solve these issues.
PURPOSE

• This project links campus accommodation eligibility to academic

performance.
• Students with supplementary exams or repeating courses will not
qualify for on-campus accommodation.
• The system encourages hardworking, motivating students to
maintain strong academic recording.
• Helps reduce academic burden , making the selection process
efficient and maintaining automation.
UNDERSTANDING WHY STUDENTS PREFER
CAMPUS HOUSING

• Campus accommodation is cheaper with subsidized with

university fees.
• Campus hostels have higher security, with patrols and
surveillance.
• Campus living saves time-no cooking, short distances to
academic facilities.
• Campus rooms are more spacious typically shared by two
people.
• Campus accommodation provide a quiet, academic-focused
OBJECTIVES
• 1. Reducing administrative pressure: this project
aims to assist in alleviating the pressure that arises
when the time for distributing accommodation on
campus arrives. Many students find themselves
applying for a room on campus. This puts pressure
on the administrative offices responsible for the
distribution of accommodation. By denying some
students access to these facilities, the administration
has less pressure in managing applications.
• 2. Ensuring equality: the project will make sure that
• 3. Empowering hard work in students: due to the
high demand for the campus accommodation,
students are bound to work harder so they have a
chance to be taken in when the time for applying
arrives. The large number of students all lined up for
the same facilities will inevitably create a
competitive spirit among the students
METHODOLO
• To implement the proposed
GY system of allocating campus
accommodation based on academic performance, the
following methodology will be followed.
• Firstly, we will conduct a survey with students, campus
administration and academic staff on the performance
indicators including GPA, exams results and
supplementary exams that will be used to determine
eligibility. Moreover, we will determine the polices to be
followed in denying or granting accommodation.
.
• Furthermore, we will design database that stores
students’ academic records, accommodation history
and application details. We will make access controls
to ensure that only authorised personnel should be
able to update the students grades or manage
application details.
• After that, we will develop a web based application
whereby we are going to integrate the application
with the university’s academic database to
automatically fetch student results. To add on that we
are going to implement logic to automatically remove
RELATED
WORK
• Our project build on the MUBAS project whereby
it allows students to have a chance to apply for
campus accommodation only once. MUBAS made
this project due to increased number of students
who wanted to have a place inside the campus.
Due to increase in population, the number of
people who goes to university for further studies
is also increasing, therefore allowing student to
have a chance of living inside the campus once
So, our project has implemented this project by making
the ones who are performing better to be staying inside
the campus as long as they are not getting a
supplementary exam or repeating the semester. By doing
this, a lot of students will be working hard to get the best
accommodation inside the campus. This is because life is
easy in the campus since every work is done by the
workers of the school and there is high class security.
Moreover, the accommodation fee is relatively cheap
