Introduction-
 Road safety is a major concern, with
driver fatigue being a leading cause of
accidents worldwide. This project aims
to design a smart driving alarm
system using Internet of Things (IoT)
technology.
 It detects signs of drowsiness or
distraction and alerts the driver in
real-time, helping prevent potential
mishaps.
OBJECTIVES-
• To develop a wearable driver alert system using smart
spectacles.

• To detect eye closure or drowsiness using an IR sensor.

• To activate an alarm when the driver becomes inattentive.

• To increase mobility and usability through a portable solution.

Components-

 IR Sensor
 Glasses
 Arduino nano
 5v Relay Module
 Motor & Wheel
 Buzzer
 9v Battery
How the Spectacles Gadget Works

 The IR sensor is attached to the inner side of the spectacle

frame, facing the driver’s eye.
It continuously monitors eye movement.

If the driver’s eyes remain closed beyond a certain time, the
sensor sends a signal to the Arduino.

The Arduino then activates a buzzer or vibration motor as a
warning.
ADVANTAGE

• Increases driver awareness and

reduces risk of accidents
• Easy to wear light weight and
comfortable.
• flexible, and easy to use
• Low power consumption
• Can be used by any driver, any vehicle
LIMITATIONS-
• Battery life must be managed

• May need adjustment for different head

sizes or eye positions

• IR sensor may be affected by bright

sunlight

• Spectacle wearers only (custom version

needed for non-wearers)
Future Enhancements-

• Add Bluetooth to send alerts to mobile phone or emergency

contacts

• Add camera module for facial recognition

• Include GPS for live location sharing in emergencies

• Replace buzzer with bone-conduction audio or subtle

vibration
Real-World Applications

• Ideal for truck drivers on long journeys.

• Can be used by night-shift drivers and delivery personnel.

• Helpful in public transportation (bus, taxi) for fatigue management.

• Usable by the elderly or people with medical conditions like sleep

apnea.
CONCLUSION-
The spectacles-based Arduino alarm system is a cost-effective,

wearable solution to reduce driver fatigue-related accidents. It

allows for easy usage without modifying the vehicle and opens

the door to future smart wearable safety tech in transportation.
