This training covers:
Detailed descriptions of SCBA components
Step-by-step operational procedures
Maintenance and care techniques
Safety protocols and emergency procedures
Applications and use cases
[Link] COMPONENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS
[Link]
An SCBA typically uses a two-stage pressure regulation system to safely reduce the high pressure (4500
PSI / 300 BAR) from the cylinder down to a breathable pressure (~14 PSI / 1 BAR) delivered to the user.
Key features include:
Pressure Gauge
High-Pressure Cylinder
Harness Assembly
Pressure Regulator
Facepiece

[Link]-use Inspection [Link] Use
Before each use, perform the following checks: While operating, perform the following checks:
Visual Inspection: Monitoring:
Check for any signs of damage or wear on all components.
Continuously monitor air supply levels via the HUD.
Cylinder Pressure:
Ensure the cylinder is fully charged (min 270 BAR). Communication:
Use integrated communication systems if available.
Facepiece Seal:
Inspect the seal for cleanliness and integrity. Mobility:
Ensure all movements are deliberate to prevent dislodging the
HUD Functionality: facepiece.
Verify that all indicators are functioning correctly.
PASS Device:
Test the alarm by activating and resetting it.

Preparation: Exit Hazardous Area:
Loosen all straps and ensure the harness is ready for donning. Ensure you are in a safe environment before doffing.
Donning the Harness: Remove Facepiece:
Slip into the harness and tighten shoulder and waist straps. Loosen straps and remove the facepiece.
Donning the Facepiece: Close Cylinder Valve:
Place the facepiece over the face, pull the head harness over Shut off the air supply.
the head, and tighten straps evenly.
Remove Harness:
Seal Check: Loosen straps and remove the harness.
Perform a positive and negative pressure seal check to ensure
a proper fit. Bleed Air:
Open the bypass valve to release residual air.
Activate Air Supply:
Open the cylinder valve fully and check the pressure gauge.

Environment: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Positioning: Keep the SCBA in a ready-to-use position.
Protection: Use protective covers to prevent dust accumulation.
[Link] CONSIDERATIONS
5.1 Emergency Procedures
Low Air Alarm: Exit the hazardous area immediately upon activation.
PASS Alarm: Respond to alarms promptly; perform rescue operations as trained.
Equipment Failure: Follow emergency protocols and use backup systems if available.
5.2 Common Hazards
Contaminated Air Supply: Ensure cylinders are filled with certified breathable air.
Improper Fit: Always perform seal checks to ensure a proper fit.
Physical Damage: Regularly inspect equipment for signs of wear or damage.
