Introduction
 Students and youth in rural areas, who are not
able to utilize the opportunities in government
and private sector. And some of them pursuing
careers which they are not passionate about.
 The student especially rural student faces hurdles
while choosing and pursuing the right career.
 They have lack of “ relevant information on
demand” to make a life changing and lack of
monetary and/or family support to pursue a
career of his/her choice.
 The guidance and counselling centre are the place
(schools, colleges, universities, and other
organization at different levels).

NEED OF GUIDANCE AND
COUNSELLING CENTRE

 Guidance counselling facilities is the only answer


to help and guide the youth to worthwhile
channels and help them to realize the goals and
optimum academic, personal and social
development.
 Guidance and counselling have a challenging role
to play in every developing economy, much more
so if it is a surplus one.
 Guidance and counselling centre are required for
fulfilling following requirements.
1.Provide educational guidance:
• The major aim of guidance and counselling centres is to encourage student”
academic, social, emotional, personal development.
• To reach this aim , guidance and counselling services which help students
get to know themselves better and find effective solution in their daily
problems.
• They also help students improve themselves in all areas and be full-
functioning individuals.

2.Provide vocational guidance:


• Early planning of career and progression pathways is vital in order for
children and youths to identify their future goals and take appropriate step
for meeting intermediate milestone to achieve them.

3.Provide individual and social guidance and counselling:


• These centres develop leadership qualities and personality development
of youth and channelize their energy towards social economic development
and growth of the community and nation.
5. Overall student support:
• With the establishment of the centre, the scope of student support
services can be increased. The centre will become an easily and
accessible platform of communication between children, youth and
support staff.
• it also promote liaison with children and youth association and
atively support youth and student-directed activities.
OBJECTIVES OF GUIDANCE AND
COUNSELLING

1. PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT :
• To help individuals understand themselves better ,
including their strength , weaknesses, interest, values
and personality traits.
2. EMOTIONAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT :
• To provide emotional support and coping strategies for
dealing with personal issues such as stress, anxiety ,
depression , grief , and other mental health concerns.
3. ACADEMIC AND CAREER GUIDANCE :
• To assist individuals in making informed choices
regarding their education cand career paths. This
includes helping them select appropriates courses ,
training programs, and career based on their abilities ,
interest and market trends.

1. SKILL DEVELOPMENT :
• To foster healthy interpersonal relationship by teaching
social skills and promoting empathy , tolerance , and
effective communication.
2. BEHAVIORAL IMPROVEMENT :
• To help individuals develop positive behavior and
attitudes , reduce negative behaviors ( such as
aggression , substance abuse or bullying) and overall
conduct.
3. CRISI INTERVENTION AND PREVENTION :
• To provide immediate support during crises and prevent
potential issues by raising awareness and educating
individuals on topic like mental health , substance
abuse , peer pressure and safety.

issues.

• They assist individual with special needs by providing appropriate guidance
and support , ensuring inclusive education and social integration.
