Aim of The Experiment: Basic Linux Commands:


Study of UNIX commands to know some basic operations can be made directly from the
terminal. Here students will learn how to get the information from the system, how to manage
the file, how to create the process and few more things.

Requirements to perform the experiment


Ubuntu OS 16.04 LTS
LTS stands for long term support. Here, support means that throughout the lifetime of
a release there is a commitment to update, patch and maintain the software.in the
software.

1. Information Management Commands
cal, ncal date, tty, sh, env, man, who, whoami
2. Utility commands
cat,cat>filename,cat>>filename,cat<filename,wc,echo, head, tail, less, more, sort, grep, bc, cmp, comm, diff
3. File System Management
mkdir, rmdir, ls,ls–a,ls-l, ln,cp,rm,mv, file, chmod, chown, find, locate, mount, umount
4. Process Management
ps, kill

vi,gedit, joe,mcedit,emac
