Introduction
• A tablet press is a mechanical device that
compresses powder into tablets.
• Widely used in pharmaceutical industries.
• Ensures uniform shape, size, and dosage.
• Two main types: Single Punch and Rotary Press.
Parts of a Tablet Press
• Hopper: Holds granulated material.
• Feeding Mechanism: Feeds powder into
dies.
• Dies & Punches: Shapes the tablets.
• Turret: Rotating part holding punches and
dies (in rotary press).
• Cam Tracks & Compression Rollers: Guide
and press punches.
• Ejection Mechanism: Pushes out finished
tablet.
Working Principle

• 1. Powder is fed into die cavity.


• 2. Upper and lower punches
compress the material.
• 3. Compression force forms the
tablet.
• 4. Tablet is ejected through ejection
cam.
• 5. Continuous process in rotary
machines.
