Explanation about Documents
1-MC LETTER:
MCN known as motor carrier number. It is a specific number that is
allocated to a carrier,by the federal authority to transport goods within
one state or across different states.
2- W-9 form:
It is basically a request for tax payer identification number and
certification of an individual or business owner.It is issued by the IRS
(Internal Revenue Service ).It would include his detail about the
business name , physical address along with his TIN.
3-COI (Certificate of insurance):
It’s a document issued by an insurance company that verifies the
existence of insurance coverage.So in order of any accident or abnormal
condition , his insurance is liable to cover his loss.

Payments explanation
1-Standard payment method:
In this method a carrier can receive his amount from broker in 30 to 60
days and there is no reduction of amount in this method.
2-Quick pay:
In this payment method carrier receive his amount from broker in like 1 to 2
days but they deduct 1 to 5 percent of the amount .
3-Factoring:
Basically it is a third party .Factoring company give carrier amount within
24 hours and they deduct 1 to 5 percent of the amount .Mostly this method
is preferable .

Documents explanation
1-Rate confirmation:
First of all carrier made the agreement with the broker and in this
agreement Rate of payment,Type of goods,Weight of freight,Adresses
etc mention on it.
2-BOL:
Bill of lading is issued by the shipper after the loading of goods shipper
seals the truck and then ask driver to sign on it .
When the shipment is delivered the BOL becomes POD (Proof of
deliviry)
3-Voided Cheque:
It is a blank cheque which is provided by Carrier to Broker for
payment .In this his account details like Account number,Routing
number,Company name mentioned on it.
4-Invoice:
It is created by trucker and send to the broker after he had completed
his work .He mentions all the work he had completed .After verifying
broker made the payment .

Logistics Penality Fees
1-Detention:
Detention refers to the extra time a driver spends waiting at a shipper
facility usually driver wait for 3 hours but if it increases from 3 hours so
detention is charged.
2-layover:
If driver has to wait for more than 6 hours for loading or unloading so
layover is paid
3-TONU (Truck order not use)
It refers to a situationi n which carrier dispataches a truck for load,but the
load is cancelled or not ready when the truck arrives so the trucker is
compensated with TONU fee which covers the cost of fuel and also trucker
time.
4-Lumper Fee:
A lumper fee is a charge that is paid to third party often called
Lumper,Who is hired for load or unload of freight.Lumper is hired
when warehouse staff is not available .
