Sexually Transmited Disease
• Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are infections that
commonly transmitted by having sex with someone who
has the infection.
• The causes of STDs are bacteria, parasites and viruses,
• Most STDs affect both men and women, but in many
cases the health problems they cause can be more
severe for women .
• If a pregnant woman has an STD, it can cause serious
health problems for her baby.
• If STDs caused by bacteria or parasites, than it can treat
with antibiotics or other medicines. If STD caused by a

Chlamydia
Chlamydia is a common sexually transmitted disease caused by
bacteria
Causative Organism:- Chlamydia trachomatis bacteria
Incubation Period:- 7-21 days
Spreading factor:-
1) Vaginal or anal sex with an infected partner
2) Oral sex, although this is less common
3) Sharing sex toys, touching parts of the body with fingers.
Sign & Symptoms:-
Chlamydia Symptoms in Women:
1) Pain or a burning sensation when passing urine
2) Bleeding between periods, Low abdominal pain sometimes
Chlamydia Sympton in Men:
1) White/cloudy, watery discharge from the tip of the
penis
2) Pain or a burning sensation when passing urine
3) Testicular pain and/or swelling
Diagnosis by :-

2) Swab Test
GONORRHEA
Is a bacterial infection which transmitted by sexual contact.
Causative Organism:- Neisseria gonorrhea bacteria
Incubation Period:- 2-14 Days
Spreading Factor:-During vaginal, oral, or anal sex with an infected
partner.
A pregnant woman can pass it to her
baby during childbirth.
Sign & Symptoms:-
Gonorrhea Symptoms in Women.
1) Strong smelling vaginal discharge that may be thin & watery or thick
2) Irritation or discharge from the anus
3) Abnormal vaginal bleeding,
Gonorrhea Symptoms in Men
1)White, yellow or green thick discharge from the tip of the penis
2)Inflammation of the testicles & prostate gland Irritation or discharge from
the anus
3)Urethral itch & pain or burning sensation when passing urine
HIV/AIDS
AIDS (Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome),
HIV (Human immunodeficiency virus).
It kills or damages the body's immune system cells.
It is the most advanced stage of infection with HIV.
These are drugs active against human
immunodeficiency virus (HIV)which is a retrovirus.
Causative organism:- Human immunodeficiency
virus.
Incubation Period:- 2 week to 6 month
Spreading Factor:-
1) Through unprotected sex with an infected person.
2) By sharing drug needles or through contact with the blood
of an infected person.
3) Women can give it to their babies during pregnancy or
childbirth.
Diagnosis:-
1)ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay
2)Western blot
3)Rapid or point-of-care tests
4)CD4 cell count 20
TREATMENT OF VARIOUS STD
PREVENTION OF SEXUALLY
TRANSMITTED DISEASE
Practice safe sex: This simply means the use latex condoms or
other barrier methods as this prevents you from contacting
infections.
Get Tested Regularly, and Encourage Your Partners to Do the
Same.(syphilis blood test) repeat test 6 weeks after the first
test.
Limit or eliminate drug and alcohol use before and during sex.
Stay with one uninfected partner. Bath before and after sex.
Get an HIV blood test, to find out if you've been infected with
HIV. Get vaccination for Hepatitis B or A.
Do not donate blood, unless you know you have never been
infected with HIV, hepatitis or syphilis.
