REFLECTION

Reflection Notes on Coaching and Mentoring Sessions:

NOTES
Performance Management and Evaluation System (PMES)

Name: FLORDELAINE C. BUENO

Date: MARCH 28, 2025
School: VICTORY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
LAC Session Topic: Coaching and Mentoring on PMES

1. Insights Gained:
The coaching and mentoring sessions provided a deeper
understanding of the Performance Management and Evaluation
System (PMES). I learned how the system is not just a tool for
evaluation but a framework for professional growth and
accountability. The emphasis on clear performance indicators,
self-assessment, and peer feedback helped me see how PMES can
guide my teaching and learning practices with the existing
codes, laws and regulations that apply to the teaching
profession, and the responsibilities specified in the Code of
Ethics for Professional Teachers and align them with school
goals.

2. Impact on My Professional Practice:

Through the mentoring discussions, I realized the importance of
setting SMART goals and regularly reflecting on my progress. I now
see performance evaluation as a collaborative and developmental
process, rather than a compliance task. The session also
encouraged me to be more open to feedback and to use it
constructively to improve my instructional strategies.

3. Challenges and Areas for Improvement:

One challenge I encountered is the interpretation of performance
indicators, especially in aligning them with actual classroom
practices. I also need to improve in documenting evidence of my
performance consistently. I plan to seek further guidance from my
mentor and collaborate with colleagues to better understand these
areas.

NOTES
Moving forward, I commit to:
• Regularly review the Code of Ethics for Professional
Teachers and consult relevant policies
• Regularly updating my Individual Performance Commitment
and Review Form (IPCRF).
• Engaging in peer coaching to enhance my teaching strategies.
• Using feedback from observations to refine my lesson planning
and delivery.
• Supporting colleagues in understanding and applying PMES
effectively.

5. Final Reflection:
The LAC session reminded me that professional growth is a
continuous journey. With the right support system through
coaching and mentoring, I feel more empowered to take ownership
of my development and contribute meaningfully to our school’s
goals.
