Human Heart School Project

The human heart is a muscular organ located in the thoracic cavity that pumps blood throughout the body, consisting of four chambers and valves that ensure unidirectional blood flow. It plays a crucial role in both pulmonary and systemic circulation, regulated by electrical impulses for rhythmic contractions. Maintaining heart health involves a balanced diet, regular exercise, and stress management to prevent common diseases such as coronary artery disease and heart failure.

The Human Heart

A School Project on Human Heart -

Biology
Introduction
• The human heart is a muscular organ that
pumps blood throughout the body. It is a vital
component of the circulatory system.
Location and Structure
• The heart is located in the thoracic cavity
between the lungs. It has four chambers: two
atria (upper) and two ventricles (lower).
Chambers of the Heart
• Right Atrium: receives deoxygenated blood
from the body.
• Right Ventricle: pumps deoxygenated blood to
the lungs.
• Left Atrium: receives oxygenated blood from
the lungs.
• Left Ventricle: pumps oxygenated blood to the
body.
Heart Valves
• Valves ensure unidirectional flow of blood:
• 1. Tricuspid Valve
• 2. Pulmonary Valve
• 3. Mitral Valve
• 4. Aortic Valve
Blood Circulation
• Pulmonary Circulation: between heart and
lungs.
• Systemic Circulation: between heart and rest
of the body.
Heartbeat and Electrical System
• The heartbeat is regulated by electrical
impulses from the SA node.
• It ensures rhythmic contraction and relaxation
of the heart muscles.
Function of the Heart
• Main functions include:
• - Pumping oxygenated blood to the body
• - Pumping deoxygenated blood to the lungs
• - Maintaining blood pressure
Common Heart Diseases
• 1. Coronary Artery Disease
• 2. Heart Attack
• 3. Arrhythmia
• 4. Heart Failure
How to Keep Your Heart Healthy
• - Eat a balanced diet
• - Exercise regularly
• - Avoid smoking
• - Manage stress and sleep well
Conclusion
• The heart is essential for life. Understanding
its structure and function helps us maintain a
healthy cardiovascular system.
