Abstract:

The Automation of Student Attendance Management system maintains an

analytical record of students, in accordance with the minimum attendance
required by the faculty, for allowing students to sit for the examination.
The front end of the project is being made using HTML and CSS whereas
the backend is being created and managed using MySQL 5.6 and JAVA . The
project is being made by keeping in mind the problems faced while keeping
attendance records on paper, or on spreadsheets, where the authority or
faculty has to use formulae and decide which student matches the criteria
and which student doesn’t.

All the tables are in a hierarchy. There is a view that holds the data
of every student and their attendance table for the rows. We can only
insert new data if we are logged in as a Faculty. But if we are logged in as
students then we can only view our attendance. The front end is designed
using HTML nad CSS and the back end is built on MySQL and the
connectivity between the two is done using JDBC Drivers.
Automated Student Attendance Management System:

This system automates student attendance management, maintaining analytical

records in accordance with faculty requirements.

It addresses the challenges of manual attendance tracking, providing a streamlined

solution for faculties and students.

The system calculates attendance percentages, total classes attended, and

unattended classes, enabling key administrative functions such as absence
tracking and debar list generation.

It aims to improve lecturer performance and productivity by eliminating

manual computation.

System Requirements
1 Software requirements:
•Operating System: Supports multi-threading and virtualization (e.g.,

Linux or Windows Server).

•Database: Robust options like MySQL

•JAVA using Eclipse.

•HTML and CSS , providing a user-friendly interface.

2 Hardware requirements:

•Processor: Multi-core for efficient performance.

•Memory: At least 16GB of RAM.

•Storage: SSD for faster data access.

•Network: High-speed internet and reliable server hosting.

Existing System:
1.Manual Attendance Maintenance:
1. Records are kept on paper or spreadsheets.
2. Faculty has to manually use formulas to evaluate students
attendance.

2.Inefficiency:
1. Time-consuming and prone to human error.
2. Difficult to track attendance over extended periods.

3.Limited Accessibility:
1. No structured access control—students and faculty may not have a
centralized system for attendance-related information.

4.No Analytical Features:

1. Lack of automated analysis or reporting to determine eligibility for
examinations based on attendance.
Proposed System:
1.Automated Attendance Management:
1. A centralized system that stores and organizes attendance data
digitally.
2. Attendance records are updated and evaluated automatically.

2.Role-Based Access:
1. Faculty can log in to insert or update attendance data.
2. Students can only view their attendance records.

3.Technology Stack:
1. Front-End: Designed using HTML and CSS.
2. Back-End: Powered by MySQL 5.6 and JAVA.
3. Connectivity through JDBC Drivers.

4.Improved Efficiency:
1. Eliminates manual errors and minimizes the time required for
record-keeping.
2. Facilitates quick analysis and decision-making.

5.Hierarchical Data Structure:

1. Attendance tables are organized hierarchically for better
management.
2. Includes a view consolidating student data and attendance records.
System Outputs and User
