IrriGo – Soil whisperer
….A Former’s friend
Introducing Soil Whisperer — a system that
listens to soil and empowers farmers with smart
insights.

Real-Life Trigger: The Cost of Unknown Soil
A real-life incident…
A farmer in Karnataka, near Tumkur, once planted tomatoes with high hopes. But just a week before
harvest, his crop failed —
- because his soil lacked phosphorus and he didn’t know.
He used expensive fertilizers blindly, which only made things worse. 💸
hat incident made us ask:
“What if the soil could tell us exactly what it needs?”

Why We Chose This Project
Agriculture is vital Guesswork is common
Foundation of our country's economy Farmers lack precise soil data
Soil health matters Waste from uncertainty
Determines plant growth and yield Water, money, and resources lost
Slide- 3
Key Problems Identified
1. Unknown soil nutrient deficiencies
2. Random fertilizer application
3. Expensive, distant soil labs
4. Data hard to interpret
So we thought — why not translate that data into something they understand?
Need for simple, clear soil health translation for farmers

Empathizing with Users
In Design Thinking, we first empathized with our users — the farmers.
We spoke to:
Village Farmer Terrace Gardening Student Nursery Shop Owner
Struggles to understand soil needs Wants actionable advice Needs to guide customers effectively
“We love plants… but we don’t understand soil.”
So we decided to give them a friend who does — the “ Soil
Whisperer ”

Defining the Need: Our
Solution
Accuracy
Precise soil nutrient analysis
Affordability
Accessible to small-scale farmers
Visualization
Clear charts and easy alerts
Usability
Simple interface for all ages
Slide- 6
Ideation - Innovative Feature
Soil Nutrient Sensor
Detects nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and more
Plant Input Option
User selects crop type for tailored advice
Smart Suggestion Engine
Recommends precise nutrient amounts to add
Environmental Sensors
Humidity and temperature checks for optimal growth
Slide- 7
Prototype - Functionality
Here’s how it works:
•A sensor-based machine is placed in the soil
•It collects data like nutrient levels, moisture, and
temperature
•Sends it to a microcontroller (like ESP32)
•Which then sends the info to a smartphone app via WiFi
•The app shows a pie chart of nutrients and gives suggestions
For example:
“Your soil has 50% Nitrogen. Add 10g more for healthy
tomatoes. 🍅"

Before we Part…
It’s not just about sensors and code,
It’s about respecting the roots,
Feeding life,
And building a future where
technology and Earth walk hand in
hand 🤖
Because when we understand our
soil,
We don’t just grow crops…
We grow connection. 🌾
