I have done my internship in

Addis Abeba .
Some part of building that I have

SUB STRUCTURE
Bulk excavation :- 3.4m is excavated with an
interval of 1.5m
Pit excavation:-vary as the soil type but it was 2.7m
at my site
Footing :-combined and isolated/spread footing has
been used.
Foundation column:-is very huge column(75-75cm),
circular and rectangular was applied at the site.
Backfill:-the 2/3 backfill soil is selected soil from
quarry and the 1/3 is from site it self.
Cart away:-is the soil dispose from the site .

CHALLENGES
Some people are not happy when I ask
the consultant and when I check any
practical work.
For few days, I couldn’t communicate with the
employees. Since they used some local words.
For instant, instead of stirrups they use “Staffa”
and others.
I couldn’t agree with day labor because of lack
of language they are spoken sidamic language

RECOMMENDATION
my recommend to MY COMPANY is that
The capacity of the engineer should be studied before work starts.
Client as well as contractor no one cares about quality of material rather
than cost
I have also recommended to compact the soil with in a thickness of 20cm
I have learned that safety should given priority rather than economy but
at the site it is vise versa so safety should given care.
pouring height should be given consideration.
Finally I recommend that health centre should be provide.
Recommendation for the program
I haven’t seen any supervision from the university during these four months
In addition, I don’t think that all hosting companies have a capability to teach the
students
CONCLUSION
The internship experience was exciting and at
the same time it build confidence in
construction work
exposing us to the real engineering work . It can
also be categorized as an exciting event depending upon how
excited one really is to put his/her
theoretical knowledge into practice.
For the student the program open the space to have some
relationship with some personnel and
company.
Generally the internship has strengthened my
technical knowledge
It bright my future life
