Force and Pressure: Motions
From Sarthak Pramod Jadhav 7th Newton
What are Motions:
• In are daily life there are many movements and
changing of position happen, some objects are at
rest and some are at motion so we can that motion
is a state, which indicates change of position.
• In are daily life there are different types of motion
uses and there are many types of motions such as
translatory motion, circulatory motion, oscillatory
motion, vibratory and random motions are also
there.
Types of Motion:
• Translatory motion:
A translatory motion is a motion in which all the
parts of a body move through the same distance in
the same interval on time. Examples- a coin moving
on carom board, man walking, boat sailing.
• Circulatory motion:
When an object moves in a circular manner about a
fixed axis or around a fixed centre, it is said to be in
circular motion. Examples- moving of giant wheel,
spinning of top, Earth revolving around the sun.
Types of Motion:
• Random motion:
If an object keeps changing its motion from one type
to another, then the object is said to have random
motion. Examples- flying butterflies, playing hockey
with ball.
• Vibratory motion:
When a certain part or parts of a body always
remains fixed and the rest of the body moves to and
definite style, then its motion is called vibratory
motions. Examples- when the wire of guitar is
plucked.
Question Time:
• When a body is said to be in motion?
When the position of a body with respect to its
surroundings changes with time, the body is said to
be in motion.
• Define Rectilinear motion?
The motion of an object along a straight line is called
as rectilinear motion.
• Give one example of Vibratory motion?
When the wire of guitar is plucked, a part of the
string moves to for and not the whole string.
