Matthew 27

50
And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.
51
Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to
bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split,
52
and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had
fallen asleep were raised;
53
and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into
the holy city and appeared to many.

51 उसी समय मन्दिर का परदा ऊपर से नीचे तक फट कर दो टुकड़े हो गया। धरती काँप
उठी। चट्टानें फट पड़ीं।
• According to Jewish tradition (like in the Mishnah), the veil was 60 feet
high, 30 feet wide, and about 4 inches thick (though thickness varies by
interpretation—some say it was a handbreadth thick).

• Weight Estimate: Some scholars estimate the curtain could have weighed
between 4 to 6 tons (8,000 to 12,000 pounds or ~3,600 to 5,400 kg).

• It was so heavy and massive that tearing it "from top to bottom"—

especially without human help—was seen as a miraculous sign,
symbolizing that the barrier between God and humanity had been
removed through Jesus' death.
