IMAM Program Coverage
Calculation
How to Calculate Coverage with
Example and Practice
What is IMAM Coverage?
• Coverage measures how many children
needing treatment
• for SAM/MAM are actually enrolled in the
program.
• ✅ Formula:
• Coverage (%) = (Children enrolled ÷ Children
needing treatment) × 100
Example: Calculate Coverage
• 📋 Field Survey:
• - 80 children receiving treatment
• - 120 children needing treatment but not
enrolled
• Total needing treatment = 80 + 120 = 200
• ✅ Coverage = (80 ÷ 200) × 100 = 40%
Coverage Standards (Sphere)
• 🌍 Sphere Minimum Standards:
• - Rural areas: >50%
• - Urban areas: >70%
• - Camp settings: >90%
• Lower coverage indicates barriers to access!
🧠 Practice: Your Turn!
• - 60 children are enrolled in the IMAM
program.
• - 90 children are identified who need
treatment but are NOT enrolled.
• ❓ What is the coverage percentage?
• (Try using the formula!)
✅ Practice Answer
• Total needing treatment = 60 + 90 = 150
• Coverage = (60 ÷ 150) × 100
• Coverage = 40%
