Application Tools of A.I. in Higher Education

INTRODUCTION
The rapid integration of information and communication technology (ICT) in higher education
has brought about transformative changes to traditional teaching and learning practices.
Artificial means “Man -Made”. Intelligence means “Thinking power “So, Artificial Intelligence
means a Man-Made thinking power. Recently, Artificial Intelligence education tools have
centered on their potential to increase the quality of schooling or Higher education and to
strengthen new approaches to teaching and learning. It is a recent tools related with Artificial
Intelligence which are used in higher education. Artificial Intelligence is affecting human life.
There tools are such as chatGPT, Conva, grammarly, chatbot many tools are related with
Artificial Intelligence, which are making human life better. In this study various tools of
Artificial Intelligence have been observed. This is secondary data based study. The goal of the
education is to develop the student development holistically. Ensuring the quality delivery the
student has the higher educational to achieve the sustainable learning outcome. This paper
explores the current application tools and future potentials of Artificial Intelligence in Higher
AI Tool

An AI tool is a software application that features artificial intelligence in some


shape or form to perform and/or enhance particular tasks. For instance, Grammarly
is a writing AI tool that helps the user improve the delivery of their writing by
providing suggestions. It can be used by a teacher, a student, or a marketer.
Although Generative AI started doing the rounds only in 2023, AI has been
powering software applications for more than a decade now. May it be the popular
social media management tool Sprout Social or the de-facto search engine leader
Google, a basic form of AI has been there for over a decade or so.
AI Tools for Education

AI tools for education may or may not be developed specifically for the education
community. Usually, an AI tool for education is a program or software application
that can be used by teachers, students, and/or anyone associated with the education
industry to make their day-to-day tasks easier, better, and more efficient.
An AI tool for education can be used for a wide variety of tasks ranging from
assisting teachers in student assessment and delivery of lectures to helping students
make the most out of their note-taking.
1. ChatGPT

There might be hardly anyone who doesn’t know what ChatGPT is and what it does. There is
hardly any domain that has not accepted this massively popular gen AI tool. It has a wide
array of applications in the education industry. The natural-language-based AI tool
delivers dynamic and conversational responses to user requirements.
From asking a simple math question and assisting in doing homework to creating personalized
student assignments, there is a wide array of tasks that ChatGPT can simplify both for
educators and students.
 Provides quick responses.
 Can handle multiple queries.
 Great option for creative projects.
 Ideal for educational purposes.
2. Google Scholar

Google Scholar is a specialized variant of Google Search that focuses on academic publications
like books, peer-reviewed papers, and theses. Thus, it has applications for both educators and
students. On one hand, teachers and educators can use it to stay abreast of the ongoing research
and advancements in their discipline, identify new up-to-date teaching materials, and find relevant
literature for course assignments. Students, on the other hand, can leverage Google Scholar to
build a deeper understanding of complex topics, find credible sources for research papers, and
know about scholarship programs in particular fields. The feature that makes Google Scholar an
outstanding option among the top AI tools for education is its advanced search capabilities.

 Smart citation tracking lets you know the impact of a particular research work.
 Provides seamless integration with academic tools and platforms.

3.Grammarly

Grammarly is an excellent writing assistance tool powered by AI. It is a cloud-based writing


assistant that leverages AI to enhance text. It helps teachers to ensure their assignments,
feedback, and lessons are clear, concise, and free from errors. Students can employ Grammarly
to get instant feedback on the grammar, spelling, and punctuation of their written works.
Grammarly provides relevant pointers to improve grammar, word choice, writing style, and
sentence clarity.

 Suggests improvements in word choice, sentence structure, voice and tone, etc.
 Offers real-time feedback on clarity, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
4. Otter.ai

It is an innovative AI-powered education tool that lets you transcribe and organize audio recordings in real
time. Otter.ai can be an invaluable resource in the classroom to let your students focus more on learning and
active participation rather than jotting down extensive notes. Otter leverages AI to generate meaningful meeting
notes using recorder transcripts.

is an excellent modern education tool for teachers to analyze and understand the learning
patterns of students, and then develop the best learning paths.

6. Chatbot

The chatbot can instantly evaluate responses, offer explanations, and guide students
toward the correct understanding. This rapid feedback loop helps students learn from
their mistakes and reinforce their knowledge in real-time.
A chatbot is a text-based conversational AI agent. Through turns of conversation, a
chatbot can guide, advise, and remedy questions and concerns on any topic. These
guided conversations can help users search for resources in more abstract ways than
via a search bar and also provide a more personable and customized experience based
on each user’s background and needs.

Satisfi.
 Imagine in Education: Expanding the use of
chat-bots to link to adaptive learning engines so
that students are able to be engaged in adaptive
learning. They are also being used to provide 24/7
technical support and to help students navigate
the administrative requirements of school, college
and university programs.
4. Machine Learning Platforms
 Providing algorithms, APIs, development and training toolkits,
data, as well as computing power to design, train, and deploy
models into applications, processes, and other machines.
Currently used in a wide range of enterprise applications,
mostly involving prediction or classification. Sample vendors:
Amazon, Fractal Analytics, Google, H2O.ai, Microsoft, SAS,
Skytree, 24[7].
 Imagine in Education: A concrete example of machine
learning in use is McGraw-Hill Education’s ALEKS, a web-based,
intelligent assessment and learning system, which uses graph
theory to break up a domain into concepts. The edges of the
network might then be used as a bridge to another domain. For
instance, if algebra has 500 concepts, a student might be
tested when he or she begins learning, pinpointing exactly what
a student knows and doesn’t know, and then creating an
appropriate path through the learning domain that is selected
based upon the start point and then continuously revising the
learning map for that individual student.

and appliances specifically
designed and architected to
efficiently run AI-oriented
computational jobs. Currently
primarily making a difference in
deep learning applications.

simulations for science and
technology programs and more
accurate graphic and colour
images for arts.
6. Decision Management

 Decision Management: Engines that insert rules and


logic into AI systems and used for initial setup/training
and ongoing maintenance and tuning. A mature
technology, it is used in a wide variety of enterprise
applications, assisting in or performing automated
decision-making. Sample vendors: Advanced Systems
Concepts, Informatica, Maana, Pegasystems, UiPath.
 Imagine in Education: Enabling critical decision making
about the student journey – risk assessments (drop-out,
non-completion, program switching, remediation
requirements), providing instant supports “just in time”.
7. Deep Learning Platforms

 Deep Learning Platforms: A special type of machine


learning consisting of artificial neural networks with multiple
abstraction layers. Currently primarily used in pattern
recognition and classification applications supported by very
large data sets. Sample vendors: Deep Instinct, Ersatz Labs,
Fluid AI, MathWorks, Peltarion, Saffron Technology, Sentient
Technologies.
 Imagine in Education: Deep learning engines can
generate learning pathways and resources to support
specific learner needs, once the engine has mastered the
learning outcomes expected of learners. A student
struggling with a specific set of issues within a subject can
have remediation from the AI system generated
automatically so that the student can “get back on track”
and master the knowledge and skills they need to progress.
