Tutorial 2

This document is a tutorial for Analog Electronics from BITS Pilani, covering various questions related to operational amplifiers (op amps). It includes calculations for closed-loop gain, slew-rate specifications, bandwidth, output voltage sketches, and saturation voltage conditions. The tutorial is structured with specific problems that require analytical and graphical solutions.

BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus

Q1: Determine the closed-loop gain of the circuit shown below,
assuming an ideal op amp. All of the resistors are equal in value.
Q2: Suppose we want to design an amplifier that can produce a 100 kHz sine wave
output voltage having a peak output voltage of 5.0 Volts. What is the minimum slew-
rate specification for the opamp?
Q3: A certain op amp has a unity-gain bandwidth of 15 MHz. If this op amp is used in
a noninverting amplifier having a dc gain of 10, what is the 3 dB bandwidth? Repeat
for a dc gain of 100.
Q4: Sketch the output voltage of the circuit shown below to
scale against time. Sometimes an integrator circuit is used as an
(approximate) pulse counter. Suppose that the output voltage is
-10V. How many input pulses have been applied? (Assume that
the pulses have an amplitude of 5V and a
duration of 2 ms, as shown in the other figure.)
Q5. For the circuit shown in the Fig, find an expression for the output voltage
for an input signal Vin= Sin((25000t). Draw the output waveform for the two
input signals shown in Fig (b) and Fig(c) .

(c)
Q6. The op amp in the circuit shown in the Fig. 1 has saturation voltage of  23 V.
(a) Find V0 when Va= 4 V, Vb = 2 V, Vc = 4 V and Vd= 5 V.
(b) If Va , Vb and Vc are held constant, what minimum value of Vd shall not
saturate the opamp?
(c) If Va , Vb and Vc are held constant, what maximum value of Vd shall
not saturate the opamp?
