2023 Admissions onwards
Minor Programs
 A minor is a secondary program; a student can choose to complement the major program of study.
 The minor could be any other subject of interest to the student, not necessarily connected with the
major subject
 Minor will commence during the third semester
 The minor courses will spread during 3rd to 8th semester but have to be completed before or along
with the final semester of the major degree

 Minor Programs offered (2023 admissions onwards):

1. Minor in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning


2. Minor in Data Science
3. Minor in Robotics and Automation
4. Minor in Internet of Things
Eligibility Criteria (2023 admissions onwards)
 Students with CGPA of 7.5 and above at the end of the second semester
 For the 2023 B Tech students CGPA will be calculated based on all the courses of first semester and
theory courses of second semester
 No standing arrears

Credit Requirement
 18 Credits, in addition to the credits required for major degree (2023 B.Tech Regulations – Clause R.25)
B.Tech 2023 Regulations

 The credit obtained for the minor course cannot be transferred to the major course even if the course
matches with or is closely related to the major discipline or vice versa

Fee for Minor Program


 Rs.20,000/- per year (total Rs.60,000/- for 3 years)

Course Registration and Fee Payment
 Registration will be through AUMS, similar to major degree course registration procedure
Course Registration Procedure

 A minimum of 25 registrants is required for a minor program to be offered. Programs with less
than 25 registrants will not be offered

 A student will be allowed to register for minor discipline courses only after payment of the
prescribed fee through myamrita portal. (my.amrita.edu)
CGPA, Grade Sheet and Degree

 Grades obtained in minor program courses will not be included for


CGPA calculation of major degree.
 Semester grade sheet will show the grades obtained in minor courses
registered during the semester separately, below the major degree
courses
 Students completing a minor discipline will have the minor mentioned
in the degree certificate.
 The Degree certificate will show a bachelor’s degree in the discipline
(major discipline) with a Minor in (minor discipline)
