INTRODUCTION

Material management, also known as supply


chain management, is the process of planning,
executing, and controlling the fl ow of materials
from suppliers to production and ultimately to
customers.
DEFINITION

Material management is defi ned as planning,


organizing and controlling aspects involved in
ensuring availability of necessary materials,
supplies drugs and equipment as and when
required.
PURPOSE

• Provide specifi ed materials, drugs and supplies


in the required quantity and quality as and
when required.

• Cut down material costs through


standardization.

• Develop knowledge and skill of health care

• Increase effi ciency of health care systems
