Types of milk formula
Formula milk, also known as baby formula or infant formula, is usually
made from cows milk that has been treated to make it more suitable
for babies.
1. First infant formula
* Suitable from birth
*Should always be the first formula you give to your baby
*Based on whey protein which is thought to be easier to digest
than other type of formula.
2. Goat's milk formula
*Suitable from birth
*available in pharmacies and shops
*produced to the same nutritional standards as cow's milk -
based formula.
*Goats milk formula is not less likely to cause allergies in babies than
cow's milk formula.
3. Anti - reflux formula
* suitable from birth but only under health professionals.
* thickened with the aim of preventing reflux in babies.
* available in pharmacies and supermarkets
4..comfort formula.
*suitable from birth but only under health professionals.
* contains cow's milk protein that have already been partly broken
down ( partially hydrolyzed).
* supposed to make it easier to digest and help prevent digestive
problems such as colic and constipation.
5. Lactose free formula.
*suitable from birth but only under medical supervision.
*suitable for babies who are lactose intolerant.

5.Hypoallergenic formula.
* suitable from birth but only under medical supervision.
*if your baby is diagnosed as being allergic to cow's milk, a GP will
prescribe an appropriate hypoallergenic infant formula with fully
hydrolyzed proteins.
6. Follow on formula.
* suitable from 6 months, only advice from health professionals.
*research shows that switching to follow on formula at 6 months has no
benefits for your baby.
* The labels on follow on formula can look very similar to those on first
infant formula. Read the label carefully to avoid making a mistake.

7. Soya formula ADD YOUR TEXT HERE

*suitable from 6 months but only under medical supervision.

*made from soya beans, not cows milk.
* it's occasionally used as an alternative to cow's milk formula for babies
who have cow's milk allergy.
* their are some concerns about the fact that soya contains
phytoestrogens. These are found naturally in some plants.
*phytoestrogens similar to estrogen that affect a baby's reproductive
development.
*more likely than cow's milk to harm a baby's teeth.
8.Hungrier baby formula
* suitable from birth, but ask a midwife or health visitor for advice
first.
* contains more casein than whey, and casein is harder for babies to
digest.
