Digestive System
The human digestive system consists of the
gastrointestinal tract plus the accessory organs
of digestion. Digestion involves the breakdown
of food into smaller and smaller components,
until they can be absorbed and assimilated into
the body.

MICROBIAL
DISEASES
Dental Caries
Dental caries or Tooth decay is
caused by certain bacteria in the
mouth that thrive on sugars and
refined carbohydrates and
produce acids as a side effect. The
acids attach to the hard outer
layer of your tooth (enamel) first.

digestive system.

DYSENTERY
It is an infection of
the intestines
resulting in severe
diarrhea with the
presence of blood
and mucus in the
feces.

STAPHYLOCOCCAL FOOD POISONING

PEPTIC ULCER
DISEASE
A peptic ulcer is an open
sore or raw area in the lining
of the stomach or intestine.
There are two types of peptic
ulcers: Gastric ulcer --
occurs in the stomach.
Duodenal ulcer -- occurs in
the first part of the small
intestine.

Hepatitis B is spread when blood,

person infected with the virus
enters the body of someone who is
not infected.
CAUSED BY:

HEPATITIS C
Hepatitis C is a liver infection
caused by the hepatitis C virus
(HCV). Hepatitis C is spread
through contact with blood from
an infected person. Today, most
people become infected with the
hepatitis C virus by sharing
needles or other equipment used
to prepare and inject drugs.

Hepatitis C is treated using
direct-acting antiviral (DAA)
tablets.
MUMPS
Mumps is a contagious disease
caused by a virus that passes from
