Picture
The doll

Boxes stacked like memories high,

Echoes of laughter, whispers cry,
Each corner holds a secret shared,
In these rooms, love was declared.
In a dusty box, two large eyes stare back,
Big empty eyes, gazing like lost hope’s track.
I pick it up, memories drift in the air,
The doll I once loved, now dusty and bare.
The doll sits silent, her journey ends,
But mine carries on to a new chapter in my
journey

Tradition
Redtop mountain
With picnic baskets, blankets spread, Running down the trail, we chase
The scent of pine, the gentle breeze, each other,
Whispers of memories in the trees.
While our parents linger, sharing
I’ve been here more times than I can
count, laughter.
Every year, as seasons change, By the light,
This lake remains, though life feels
strange.
My parents shared their own
stories,
Even when we don’t dive
Into the still and shimmering lake, In this cherished spot, our hearts
We Walk the path, the same intertwine,
For years and years, A family tradition, forever divine.

Ukraine’s fierce battle to defend the eastern city of Potrovsk

 The medics tell us they recently treated 50 soldiers in one day - numbers
rarely seen before during the course of this war. The casualties are brought
in for treatment at this secret location after dusk, when there is less of a
chance of being attacked by armed Russian drones.
 The Ukrainian troops have been injured in the ferocious battle to defend
Pokrovsk. Just months ago, this was considered a relatively safe place -
home to about 60,000 people, its streets lined with restaurants, cafes and
markets. Soldiers would often come from the front line to the city for a
break.
 Now, it feels like a ghost town. More than three-quarters of its population
have left.
