Environmental protection

Look after your planet,

it's the only one
we have
Prince Philip of Britain,
President
of the World Wildlife Fund
Plan of the Event:
1. The Earth is beautiful
2. The Earth is being changed
3. The cause of the changes
4. Problems endangering people’s lives
5. Solutions to the problems
The Earth is our Home
The Earth is a garden,
It’s a beautiful place
For all living creatures
For all the human race.
Helping Mother Earth,
We can peacefully roam,
We all deserve a place,
We can call our home

Roam – мандрувати
Deserve - заслуговувати
We live in a beautiful world!
Our life consists of simple and
ordinary things about which we even
don’t think
Our planet is in danger
Еnvironmental problems

- deforestation - climate change

- damage to ecosystems - damage to the ozone layer
- endangered species - urban pollution
- acid rain
THE GREENHOUSE EFFECT
The Earth is surrounded by a blanket of
gasses. The sun shines in and the blanket of
gases traps the heat , keeping it close to the
planet. We cannot live without warmth.
Factories, electric power plants and cars
are making a lot of gases. These gases are
trapping more and more of the sun's heat. This
is called greenhouse effect or global warming.
THE OZONE HOLE
Above the air we breathe, there is a
layer of gas called ozone. It helps us by
blocking out rays from the sun that can
harm our skin, and by letting the rays that
are good for us come though.
We are lucky to have the ozone layer to
protect us.
Now the ozone layer is being damaged
by gases that people have made. The gases
are called CFCs - chloro - fluoro - carbons.

The CFCs float up to the top of the

atmosphere and "eat up" the ozone.
Scientists are concerned about the ozone
layer, because a lot of it has gone away in just a
few years.
AIR POLLUTION
People started building factories. Those factories put a lot of harmful gases
into the air. Then people started driving cars, which added more pollution to the
air.
Today the air is so polluted that it is not always safe to breathe.
Many cities around the world have air filled with a pollution called "smog".
This is so strong in some places that the air which should be blue, actually looks
brown.
WATER
POLLUTION
The planet Earth is mostly water. All life
on Earth — depends on this water.
In many places, the water has become
polluted. Rivers and lakes are polluted by
garbage or by poisonous chemicals which are
dumped right into them.
We need to save our water, to keep it clean
and healthy so people, plants and animals will
always have come to drink. And so fish and
other creatures will have a place to live.
ACID RAIN
When power plants burn coal to make
electricity, and when cars burn gasoline,
invisible gases are released into the air.
Some of these gases can mix with rain or
snow and make it acidic, like lemon juice
or vinegar.
Sometimes the gases get into rain
clouds, where they get mixed in with rain
or snow. Then the acid falls back to earth
with rain or snow. This is called acid rain.
Acid rain is extremely harmful to
plants, rivers and lakes, and the
creatures that live in them. In some
places it is killing forests. And it pollutes
the water that animals and people need
to drink.
TOO MUCH GARBAGE!
When we throw something away it
goes in a garbage can. Then a garbage
truck comes and the can is emptied.
Almost all garbage is taken to a
garbage dump or landfill, where the
garbage truck empties in onto the ground.
So, most of our garbage is just buried.
Now we are making so much garbage
that in many places there is not enough
room to bury it all.
DISAPPEARING ANIMALS

Every day, there are more and more

people living on Earth.
All these people need room to live.
Forests are cut down, and wild areas are
filled with houses and stores.
When people move into new land the
plants and animals that live there can
become endangered and begin to
disappear. Some even become extinct —
which means that they all die and go from
the Earth forever.
Environmental problems
If you want anything to be done, do it
yourself
want, it, yourself, If, anything, you, to be done, do

If you want to save

the planet and stop
pollution, start doing
this yourself.
Environmental Problems
Why is all the progressive humanity very concerned about the future of
our planet?
All the progressive humanity is very concerned about the future of our
planet because the ways of life in many parts of the world have changed .
What are these changes caused by?
• Changes in the weather and the climate.
• Work of large factories and plants.
• Nuclear electric power stations.
• Cars on the roads of the towns.
• Fires in the forests.
• Disappearing of different animals and birds.
What can people realize well enough? What is the duty of mankind, of
each person on the planet?
We can realize well enough that to save nature and to keep the Earth
safe, alive and beautiful for future generations is the duty of
mankind, of each person on the planet.
What should / shouldn’t we do to keep the
Earth clean?
