Art and cultural center is an organization, building or complex that promotes culture and arts
. Cultural centers can be neighborhood community arts organizations, private facilities,
government-sponsored, or activist-run.
Arts and Culture are important because it preserves our heritage, that it gives a medium for
artistic expression.
Men and their activities in social groups can be analyzed into three basic systems:
 A system of social relations, which forms the “SOCIETY”.
 A system of group conduct predisposes men to think and believe in normatic ways according
to their perceptions of circumstances, which is called “CULTURE”.
 A system of individual’s cognition and behaviors which underlies the first two systems called
“PSYCHOLOGY”.
Thus the culture of the individual depends on the culture of the group or the class and the
culture of the group and the class depends on the culture of the whole society to which the
NEED FOR THE STUDY
 The quality of life depends on the facilities of people get in their respective
communities. as compared to earlier times the density of population has manifold and as
the result the needs of the people have to be catered by providing the basic facilities for
comfortable living. But beyond the needs of people there are aspects like social
interactions between people which would make a community get closer which make the
city grow by enhancing the quality of life.
 As the arts and culture field encompasses the performing, visual, and fine arts, as well as
applied arts including architecture and graphic design; crafts; film, digital media and
video; humanities and historic preservation; literature and other creative activities ,
hence our country needs these kind of hubs to create interest in the public.

different field of work by providing them a platform to present their talent at different

younger generation who are not in touch with such things.
To achieve these aims following objective should considered :
 To create a place which feels comfortable and relaxed with the building and landscape.

SCOPES AND LIMITATIONS
 The project presents several challenges to the designer in not only functional aspects but
also in the appeal. Thus project requires a clear understanding of the functional aspect of
a culture centre .it is nesting place for craftsman threatened by extinction. Thus it should
clear to the need of neglecting craftsmen, with added advantages like sale outlets making
it a recreational as well as an educational place with add on facilities such as food
kiosk ,OAT etc.
The centre has to be designed keeping in mind the following activities:
 Description of each activity spaces.

 Fit out requirements of each activity.

 Descriptive ‘look and feel’ of the element; such as open spaces, galleries, etc.

 Natural light and positioning aspect requirement (e.g. north facing, natural light and
