The “what” of the human person speaks of his/her characteristics, capacity, and role
o r t a s k d e s i g n a t e d , a s s u m e d o r g i v e n t o h i s / h e r m o r a l a g e n c y. T h e m o r a l a g e n t i s
endowed
with the capacity to know and understand morality in its true meaning and
implication.
He/she has to experience himself/herself a sense of moral obligation in acting or
following
h e r e a n d n o w e x i s t i n g r u l e s , r e g u l a t i o n s , p o l i c i e s , p r i n c i p l e s o r l a w. I n t h e e x e r c i s e o f
freedom, which is the foundation of morality, the moral agent has to have an informed
and reasonable choice to discern what is good or bad, right or wrong, and decide with
i m p a r t i a l i t y. To m a n i f e s t h i s / h e r d i s t i n c t i v e m o r a l c h a r a c t e r t r a i t s ( v i r t u e s o r v i c e s ) ,
the
human person has to live a life he/she wants conditioned upon personal responsibility
a n d a c c o u n t a b i l i t y. L e t u s g o t h r o u g h t h e s t a t e m e n t s b e l o w a n d d r a w j u d g m e n t o n t h e
morality
of the character traits that a moral agent may have.

Moreover, the distinctive characteristic of a moral agent is his/her
sense of otherness. He/she is a being-with-others, which may mean and
