3 BASIC TIPS FOR WRITING A GOOD
RESEARCH PAPER TITLE
• Keep it simple, brief and attractive
⮚ Use active verbs instead of complex noun-based phrases and avoid unnecessary
details.
⮚ A good title for a research paper is typically around 13 to 15 content words
long.
• Use appropriate descriptive words
⮚ A good research paper title should contain keywords used in the manuscript and
should define the nature of the study.
⮚ Think about terms people would use to search for your study and include them in
your title.
• Avoid abbreviations and jargon
⮚ Known abbreviations such as AIDS, NATO, and so on can be used in the title.
CONTEXT AND RATIONALE
(KALIGIRAN AT LAYUNIN)

This section provides the context of and argues for the

importance of action research. The context and rationale of your
action research proposal should include a brief description of the
following:
• Introduction on the focus of the research
• Description and context of the study
• Valid data to support that the problem to be considered for
research is really important
• Reason for conducting it, and
• How the results could be used in action planning
Observe the deductive
method in writing. You
may start from the
general overview.
Include what has
been done so far in
this area (e.g.
related studies,
theories, policies).
Provide legal bases.
You may include it
here statistics and
other national
baseline data.
Present the
context in the
locale of the
research. Use
previous data to
prove that your
problem is a
problem.
Provide a general
overview of the
Innovation/
Intervention to be
used.
Lastly, give the purpose
statement.
ACTION RESEARCH QUESTIONS
(MGA SULIRANIN)
• Valid, authentic and relevant data can be generated out of
the question/s;
• identifies the problem/s which will be addressed by the
research in terms of investigating or testing an idea;
• Trying out solutions to a problem;
• Exploring and analyzing issues;
• Creating a new procedure or systems;
• Explaining a phenomenon; or
• Combination of any of these

PROPOSED INNOVATION, INTERVENTION, AND STRATEGY
(IMINUNGKAHING PAGBABAGO/ INOBASYON,
INTERBENSYON AT ESTRATEHIYA)
• Based on the characteristic of the students, schools, and schooling system, you need
to develop an appropriate innovation/intervention/strategy that can be used to
address the issue/s you are trying to address.
• You need to clearly argue why you have selected/developed the
innovation/intervention/strategy you are planning to implement.
• You can draw from various theories and related studies to build your argument.

• indicate and discuss the proposed innovation, intervention and strategy

• It should answer 4 Ws and H (What about the project? When to
implement? Where it should be done? Who will be involved? and How it
will be implemented?) for at least 1 or 2 paragraphs.
• Then, indicate specific interventions.
ACTION RESEARCH METHODS
(PAMAMARAAN/DISENYO NG PANANALIKSIK)

This section describes the appropriate methodology that you will use in implementing
your action research. This contains information on your:
• Participants / Other Sources of Data and Information
• Data Gathering Methods
• Data Analysis Plan

a. Participants and/or other Sources of Data and Information

(Kalahok/Tagatugon)
- who will participate in the research
- number of people and the characteristics of those who will
participate in the research
- how will the sample be selected/ recruited
Specify how you select
your
samples/participants.
You need to clearly
argue for the benefits
and limitations of your
selected sampling
design. Indicate the
strength of the sample
design or its
practicality.
ACTION RESEARCH METHODS
(PAMAMARAAN/DISENYO NG PANANALIKSIK)

This section describes the appropriate methodology that you will use in implementing
your action research. This contains information on your:
• Participants / Other Sources of Data and Information
• Data Gathering Methods
• Data Analysis Plan

b. Data Gathering Methods (Paraan sa Paglikom o Pagkalap ng Datos)

- Identify how would you collect your data.
- Then, justify why the chosen data collection method will answer your
research questions.
- various instruments and procedures for data collection should be outlined
and extensively discussed
The proposal explains
why the selected data
gathering method(s) is
suited to the nature and
purpose of the action
research. The data
gathering method(s) is
aligned with the research
question(s). Research
instruments, if any, are
appropriate for obtaining
the desired kind of
data/information.
ACTION RESEARCH METHODS
(PAMAMARAAN/DISENYO NG PANANALIKSIK)

This section describes the appropriate methodology that you will use in implementing
your action research. This contains information on your:
• Participants / Other Sources of Data and Information
• Data Gathering Methods
• Data Analysis Plan

c. Data Analysis Plan (Plano sa Pagsusuri ng Datos)

- detail your analysis plan and argue why you chose a specific data
analysis technique whether it is quantitative or qualitative
- how the data will be analyzed and reported
- discuss the statistical tool/s to be used
The selected method of
data analysis is shown to
be appropriate to the
nature
of the data/information to
be gathered and for
addressing the research
question(s).
ACTION RESEARCH WORK PLAN AND TIMELINES
(ISKEDYUL NG GAWAIN O WORK PLAN)
A sensible and realistic timeline indicating plans from
commencement right through to submission. In the timetable, you
need to indicate the major milestones with specific activities of
your proposed research.
- When will the project begin and how long will
it take for it to be completed
- Include time estimates for each step in the
research process (e.g. 5 days, 2 weeks)

COST ESTIMATES
(BADYET/GASTUSIN)
The specific expenses should support the overall design and plan of
the proposed Action Research.
• Write a detailed breakdown of expense items with their
corresponding costs. The items and costs should reasonably
reflect the funding needs of the Action Research.
• If availing a grant, consider the guidelines of the funding facility.
- detailed research cost
- broken down per research task, activity and/or
deliverable
- grouped by tranche (refer to availment process for the
activities falling under each tranche)
PLANS FOR DISSEMINATION AND UTILIZATION
(PLANONG PAGPAPALAGANAP AT PAGGAMIT)
• Discuss how will you disseminate and utilize the outcomes of your
proposed research.
• Indicate how you will disseminate the results of your study for a
wider education community and for specific groups of people,
teachers, students, parents or other stakeholders that may benefit
from your finding. The key here is to make your results and findings
- Indicates
accessiblehow the

stakeholders.

• Research Dissemination Plan
• Data Utilization Plan
