This following slides show screenshots of how to
interact with ODK Collect mobile App to collect data
during a survey.
This symbol above indicates the point on the mobile
phone to be clicked to take a particular action. If
there are more than one of this symbol on a page,
the numbers 1,2,3, etc. in the symbol would indicate
the order of the actions (or clicks) you are to take.

How to download ODK Collect to your mobile device
This section requires internet connection. So ensure that the device to be used has internet connec
Step 1: Downloading of ODK from Play store
On the screen of your device locate and double-click the
google “Play store” icon
Step 2: Search for “Odk Collect”
On the screen that appears, Click and type “Odk
Collect” into the textbox region as shown below
Step 3: Choose the ODK collect app icon”
On the screen that appears, double-click
on the “Odk Collect” icon as shown below
Step 4: Install the ODK collect app
On the screen that appears, click on the “INSTALL”
button as shown below, and wait for a while
Step 5: Accept the App requirements
On the screen that appears, click on the
“ACCEPT” button as shown below, and wait for a
while
Step 6: Launch the App for the first time
On the screen that appears, click on the
“OPEN” button as shown below
This ends the downloading of the app! You can find the
app’s icon on the main screen of your mobile app
How to set the address from which you can downloa
your questionnaires and submit your filled forms to
Questionnaires that would be administered using
ODK collect has to be gotten (downloaded) from
SOMEWHERE. Similarly, every filled instance of
the form needs to be sent (uploaded)
SOMEWHERE.
Therefore, the user can configure the
downloaded app to download unfilled (bank)
questionnaires from a particular web address
and send the filled instances of that form to the
same address.

Step 1: How to launch/use the App
Check for the ODK Collect icon on your mobile device
screen, double-click it to launch the app as shown below
Step 2: Open the settings menu
On the screen that appears, click on
the button as shown below
Step 3: Go to General settings
On the dialog box that pops up, click
on ‘General settings’ as shown below
Step 4: Go to Platform settings
On the screen that appears, click on ‘Platform
settings’ as shown below
Step 4: Change URL address
On the screen that appears, click on ‘URL’ and edit it to your desired address as shown below. For
this tutorial the address where the test questionnaire is located is https://odk.ona.io/
agra_cba or https://kc.kobotoolbox.org
Then click on OK to save the changes
This ends the setting of the address from where the blank
form is downloaded from and filled forms will be submitted

How to download forms
Step 1: launch/use the App
Check for the ODK Collect icon on your mobile device
screen, double-click it to launch the app as shown below

Step 2: Get a new form [Internet is required]
On the app’s main page, click on “Get blank form’” button as shown
below. Depending on the strength of your connection, it will take a
while to display the forms available on the device address

Step 3: Choose the target form(s)
On the screen that appears, check only form(s) that you intend
to download (i.e. uncheck others). When you are done then click
“Get selected” button to download the selected form(s). In this
tutorial we selecting “2024 AGRA Farmers’ Listing - May” form.

Depending on the numbers and size of forms you are
downloading at time, your internet connection strength etc.
it may take a while for the form(s) to download on to the
device. When the process completes, click OK on the
“Download Result” dialog box that appears.
This ends the downloading of blank forms
How to administer/fill forms
Step 1: Go to Fill blank form
After launching the app, click on “Fill Blank Form” button
on the screen that appears. The screen showing all
downloaded appears. Click on the form to be administered.

It takes a few seconds for a form to load. When the form loads finally,
it starts to display the questions in the form one after the other.
Input the response to each question and click on the
forward arrow button or swipe “from right to left” to go
forward. Click on the backward arrow button or swipe

Input appropriate response to each
question and move forward until the end

Step 4: Finalizing filled form
When you get to the point of ‘You are at end of …..” this signifies
the end of the questions in the survey. Remember to check “Mark
form as finalized” so that the form can be ready for ready for
sending. Then click on “save form and exit”
This ends the procedure of administering ODK
How to send finalized
Step 1: Go to send finalized form

After launching the app, click on “Ready to Send” button on the
screen that appears. The screen showing all finalized forms
appears. Check the form(s) to be sent. Then click “send
selected”

It will take a while for a form to successfully be sent
(uploaded) to the server. Click OK when the Upload
result dialog box shows success
This ends the procedure of sending finalized

Administering the AGRA Questionnaire
a. Go to home Screen
b. Click on Fill blank form
c. Click on the form AGRA Farmers’ Listing
d. Start entering the responses and swipe the screen from
right to left.
