IDEAL FOR WRITING

TASK 2

CINDY LE
EDUCATION
HIGHER EDUCATION (University)
a. Positives:
• On individual level: better employment prospect.(triển vọng nghề nghiệp)
-Economies: more knowledge-based
-Most highly paid jobs require specific savvy and skills → A degree will open the door to these opportunities.
• ON SOCIETAL LEVEL: leads a surge in the gross enrollment rate → result: a more educated workforce
• -A well-educated populace: precursor to a thriving economy + a civilized society
• b. Negatives:
• On Personal level, some people decide: higher education is not suitable for them based on:
-Cognitive ability
-Ability to shoulder the financial burden of a college education.
• Maintain a healthy economy : need a diverse workforce.
-Manual labor will needed in jobs that don’t require knowledge such as construction workers.....
-Ex: UK- there is currently a shortage of plumbers = Their services are more expensive.
STUDY ABROAD – Students in developing countries
a. Positives:
• Prestigious universities abroad offer a much better education.
-Best universities employ teachers who are experts in their fields.
-Qualifications gained abroad open the door to better job opportunities
• Broaden their horizons.
-Overseas students are exposed to different cultures and customs = know the world and better appreciate their origins.
• More independent.
-Cook, clean, pay the bills by themselves. = useful when they enter adult life.
b. Negatives:
• The potential mental strain of living alone in a foreign country
-Can lead to homesickness, feelings of isolation, and even mental health issues such as anxiety or depression.
• Students not wealthy, have to work extra time to support themselves.
-Affect the amount of time they can spend on studying, defeating the whole purpose of studying abroad.
• No parents to monitor them, students who less mature also be influenced by bad people and be led astray.
→ Emphasize the importance of providing support systems and resources for students to ensure their well-being and
academic success.
A GAP YEAR BEFORE UNIVERSITY
• HAVE A BREAK (nghỉ ngơi) from studying after graduating from high school= defer university enrollment (to travel
or work)
• a. Positives:
- Have time to refocus before entering universities -avoid burnout + enter university renewed energy and
motivation.
- Have time to participate in extra-curricular activities to build up their resumes, giving them better career
opportunities - future.
- Many not know what study after leaving high school. → A calm period of self-exploration : gain new perspectives,
approach new fields, have more time to decide which path is right for them.
• b. Negatives:
- gap year programs, travel, and living expenses: costly. Some have fund their gap year adventures through
parental support/ loans, others may find it financially prohibitive.
- Feel left behind (bị bỏ lại phía sau): all friends are soon graduate/ we still in universities - hard to overcome.
- Only benefit if can get experience. → This can be a big risk. If student doesn’t learn anything, then one precious
year will be lost.
ROLES OF TEACHERS AND PEERS IN LEARNING
• Roles of teachers:
-Can and must act as the disciplinarian to prevent chaos + ensure that students can focus on
their studies effectively.
-Being trained + qualified in the subject, can be mediator when there are disagreements in
classroom about a certain idea.
Ex: history class, causes of World War I, guiding me to analyze primary sources and navigate
differing interpretations with evidence-based reasoning
-With life experience, can give advices/ emotional support to students in need-
• Roles of peers:
-Children understand concepts easier from the perspectives of someone in their age,
compared to older teachers.
-Children may be more open to express themselves around their peers – put in a group to
learn.
