INTODUCTION
• An Airline Management System (AMS) is a sophisticated software solution
designed to streamline and optimize the operations of an airline. This
system integrates various functions such as ticket reservations, flight
scheduling, crew management, and maintenance tracking, enhancing
overall efficiency and customer satisfaction.
• By leveraging real-time data and advanced analytics, AMS enables airlines
to make informed decisions, reduce operational costs, and improve
punctuality. Additionally, it facilitates seamless communication across
different departments, ensuring a cohesive workflow. In an industry where
precision and reliability are paramount, an effective AMS is crucial for
maintaining competitive advantage and delivering superior service to
passengers.
PROBLEM DEFINATION
• Manual system -:
The system is very time consuming and lazy. This system is more prone to
Errors and sometimes the approach to various problems is unstructured.
• Technical system -:
With the advent of latest technology if we do not update our system then our
business result in losses gradually with time. The systems with this technology
are very fast, accurate, user-friendly and reliable.
• Need of Airlines system -:
A few factors that directs us to develop a new system are given below –
i. Faster System
ii. Accuracy
iii. Reliability
iv. Informative
v. Reservations and cancellations from any where to any place
FEASIBILITY STUDY
• Feasibility study is to check the viability of the project under consideration. Theoretically
various types of feasibilities are conducted, but we have conducted three type of feasibilities
explained as under.
 ECONOMIC FEASIBILITY -:
With the manual system the operating cost of the system is about 60 Lacks P.A... This cost comprises salary
of 25 people, stationary, building rent, electricity, water, telephone etc. But with the new system this
reoccurring cost comes out to be about 20 Lacks P.A. Hence the new system is economically feasible.
 TECHNICAL FEASIBILITY -:
• The new system requires only 6 trained person to work with the system and in overall 10 people per
office are sufficient. So we will identify 6 best people from existing system and train them.
• As our existing system is purely manual, so we need a one time investment of Rs 4 Laks for the purchase
of 7 computers, 5 Ticket printers, a laser printer, AC and networking etc. It requires 20 Lacks PA as a
operating cost.
• With the above details our system is technically feasible as after investing 24 lacks in a year, the
company is still saving Rs 25 Lacks PA.
 OPERATIONAL FEASIBILITY -:
The new solution is feasible in all sense but operationally it is not. The new system demands the expulsion
of at least 15 people from the company. It creates an environment of joblessness and fear among the
employees. So the management must take corrective actions prior in advance in order to start the further
proceeding
FEATURES OF AMS
Here are the key features of an airline reservation system:
1. Real-time Flight Search and Booking:
Allows customers to search for available flights based on parameters like destination,
departure date, and time.
2. Booking Confirmation and Ticketing:
Issues electronic tickets upon booking confirmation.
3. PNR (Passenger Name Record) Management:
Creates and manages PNRs, which contain details about the passenger’s itinerary.
4. Dynamic Pricing:
Adjusts ticket prices based on demand, booking time, and other factors.
5. Seat Inventory Control:
Manages seat availability in real-time to maximize occupancy
SYSTEM ANALYSIS
RESULTS AND
OBSERVATIONS
Operational Efficiency –:
Airlines that implement a robust ARS often experience more streamlined operations. Tasks such as flight
scheduling, seat inventory management, and ticketing become automated, reducing the need for
manual intervention.
Customer Satisfaction -:
Customers benefit from a seamless booking process with features like real-time flight search, instant
booking confirmation, and multiple payment options.
Revenue Impact –:
Real-time adjustments to ticket prices based on demand and other factors can maximize revenue.
System Performance -:
Modern ARS are designed to handle large volumes of transactions and can scale as the airline grows.
Insights from Data -:
The system generates valuable insights through comprehensive reporting and analytics, helping airlines
make informed decisions about pricing, routes, and customer service .
FUTURE ENHANCEMENTS
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning -:
AI can provide tailored travel suggestions based on customer preferences and past behaviors. Enhancing
customer service with AI-driven chatbots that can handle bookings, changes, and inquiries 24/7 .
Blockchain Technology -:
Blockchain can provide secure, tamper-proof transactions, reducing the risk of fraud and improving data
integrity. Streamlining financial transactions and settlements between airlines, travel agents, and
customers.
Advanced Mobile Integration -:
Developing mobile apps that offer comprehensive services, from booking to boarding passes, real-time
updates, and customer support. Integrating various mobile payment options to cater to a global audience.
Internet of Things (IoT) -:
Utilizing IoT for real-time luggage tracking, personalized in-flight services, and enhanced airport
experiences. Integrating reservation systems with smart airport infrastructure for smoother passenger
flows and better resource management.
Enhanced User Interfaces and Experiences -:
Implementing voice recognition technology to allow customers to make reservations and manage bookings
through voice commands.
CONCLUSION
• An airline reservation system is a sophisticated platform essential for
managing flight bookings, schedules, and passenger information. It
streamlines the reservation process, enabling customers to book
flights, select seats, and manage travel details efficiently. Advanced
features like real-time pricing, dynamic inventory management, and
integration with global distribution systems (GDS) enhance its
functionality.
• Leveraging technologies such as AI, mobile integration, and secure
payment gateways, the system ensures a seamless and secure user
experience. By continuously evolving with innovations like biometric
authentication and personalized services, airline reservation systems
are pivotal in optimizing operations and enhancing customer
satisfaction.
