 DISTINGUISHA HOLISTIC PERSPECTIVE FROM
A PARTIAL POINT OF VIEW.

HUMAN ACTIVITIES THAT
EMANATED FROM DELIBERATE REFLECTION.

Comes from two Greek words
Philos (love) and Sophia
(wisdom).
What is philosophy?
 Is
a study that seeks to understand the
mysteries of existence and reality. It
examines the relationships between
humanity and nature and between the
individual and society.
A way of thinking about certain subjects
such as ethics , thought , existence, time
meaning and value . By doing philosophy we
learn to think better, to act more wisely and
thereby help to improve the quality of all
our lives.

that philosophy could enable a man to live a life of
virtue. SOCRATIC METHOD- a means of examining
a topic by devising a series of questions that let
the learner examine and analyze his knowledge
and views regarding the topic.

Frameworks -a way of
thinking about the world and
is composed of the views and
belief of a person.
Internal questions- questions
that examines personal
ideas regarding correctness
and values.
External questions- seek to
question the very
frameworks upon which
people base their own

 AESTHETICS- philosophy that deals with beauty and
makes things beautiful
 LOGIC-branch of philosophy which deals with correct
reasoning
 EPISTEMOLOGY- discusses the nature of knowledge and
knowing
 ETHICS-is the branch of philosophy deals with moral
questions and dilemmas.
 POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY – studies governments and deals
with questions of justice, power the rights and
obligations of citizen.
 METAPHYSICS- branch of philosophy that deals with
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE
BETWEEN HOLISTIC AND
PARTIAL THINKING?
 HOLISTIC THINKING- refers to a perspective
that considers large- scale patterns in
systems. It is a perspective that
considers the “ bigger picture” when
looking at problems and situations.
Partial thinking- It is a perspective
that focuses on specific aspects of a
situation.
HOW DOES ONE ENGAGE IN
REFLECTION?
REFLECTION- It is an
activity that requires a
person to examine his or
her thoughts, feelings, and
actions and learn from the
experience.
WHAT ARE THE PRACTICAL USES
OF PHILOSOPHY IN OUR LIVES?
 Philosophy enables a person to engage in critical
analysis and interpretation of concepts,
definitions, arguments and problems.
 Philosophyalso improves problem-solving and
decision making.
A philosopher is a good communicator who can
clearly and adequately present his or her ideas.
 Knowledgeof Philosophy can contribute to self-
development.
