WHAT IS A MARS
ROVERS……………..????
The Mars Rovers, Spirit and Opportunity,
were launched on June 10th and July 7th
2003. They landed on Mars on January 3rd
and 24th 2004, and are still there to this day.
The robots were launched inside airbags
which protected them while in orbit and
allowed them to land without any damage to
the machines. These airbags burst on
landing. The robots are equipped with very
sophisticated machinery that allows them to
gather any necessary information about the
terrain on Mars. The robots have an arm that
can move in a similar way to human arm.
