Introduction
+ Objective: To analyze and compare the physical characteristics of
Al7075 composites reinforced with silicon carbide (SiC) derived from
material and herbal sources.
+ Importance: Understanding the potential of herbal-based
reinforcemnts in enhancing material properties.
+ Research Scope: Focus on tensile strength, hardness, wear resistance,
and microstructural analysis.
Aluminum alloy 7075
+ Composition : includes 5.6–6.1% zinc, 2.1–2.5% magnesium, 1.2–1.6% copper
+ Un-heat-treated 7075 (7075-0 temper) has a maximum tensile strength of
280 MPa, and maximum yield strength of 140 MPa . The material has an
elongation of 9–10%. As is the case for all 7075 aluminum alloys, 7075-0 is
highly corrosion-resistant combined with generally acceptable strength profile.
+ Applications: Due to its high strength and excellent fatigue resistance, aluminum
alloy 7075 is commonly used in aerospace, military, and high-performance
applications such as aircraft structures, missile components, bicycle frames,
automotive parts, and high-stress structural components.
Material derived SiC
+ Source:
+ Obtained through conventional methods such as carbothermal reduction of
silica and carbon.
+ Typically sourced from industries producing silicon and carbon-based
materials.
+ Characteristics:
+ Generally characterized by uniform particle size distribution and high purity.
+ Mechanical properties can be precisely tailored through optimization of
processing parameters.
+ Well-studied and widely used in industrial applications.
Material derived SiC

+ Advantages:
+ Established manufacturing processes ensure consistency and reliability.
+ High purity levels offer predictable material behavior and performance.
+ Extensive research base allows for advanced characterization and
property enhancement.
+ Challenges:
+ Energy-intensive production processes may lead to high manufacturing costs.
+ Environmental concerns related to emissions and waste generation.
+ Limited availability of raw materials may impact scalability and sustainability.
Analysis
Herbal SiC
+ Source:
+ Extracted from agricultural waste such as rice husk, sugarcane bagasse, or
bamboo.
+ Utilizes sustainable and renewable resources, contributing to environmental
conservation.
+ Characteristics:
+ Variability in particle size and morphology due to differences in plant species
and processing methods.
+ May contain organic residues or impurities from the biomass, influencing
composite properties.
+ Potential for bio-functionalization, offering unique surface properties and
interactions.
Herbal SiC
+ Advantages:
+ Sustainable sourcing reduces dependence on traditional raw materials
and minimizes environmental impact.
+ Lower processing energy requirements compared to conventional
methods, leading to reduced carbon footprint.
+ Promotes circular economy by valorizing agricultural waste and enhancing
resource efficiency.
+ Challenges:
+ Lack of standardized extraction processes may result in batch-to-batch
variations.
+ Organic residues or impurities could affect composite performance and
stability.
+ Limited understanding of long-term durability and compatibility in
harsh environments.
Induction furnace
+
An induction furnace is a type of furnace used for melting
metal using electromagnetic induction to generate heat
within the material. The basic principle involves passing a
high-frequency alternating current through a coil of
copper wire, creating a rapidly changing magnetic field.
When a conductive material such as metal is placed within
this field, eddy currents are induced in the material,
generating heat due to its electrical resistance.
