But wait…

 I don’ think you would understand my jargon like EFCS, full mechanical shutter,
electronic shutter and IBIS. So let me explain.
Mechanical shutter

 Mechanical shutter is when a camera has two curtains in front of the lens,
eliminating rolling shutter because the sensor doesn’t have to do anything
electronically.
 See how there are two curtains in the top and in the bottom? That’s a full
mechanical shutter because there are two curtains.
Electronic shutter
 Now, instead of having curtains physically closing or opening the shutter, an
electronic shutter digitally turns on and off each row of pixels. Like shown in this
picture. It causes more rolling shutter though.
EFCS (Electronic First Curtain Shutter)
 Now this is a mix between Electronic Shutter And Mechanical shutter. Instead of either
both curtains or no curtains, there is only one mechanical curtain and one electronic
shutter. This makes rolling shutter a bit more bearable but at the cost of bokeh being
worse.
Shutters

 Now that we’ve learned about all the shutter types. The Canon EOS R8 has only
EFCS and an Electronic shutter, while the Canon EOS R7 has all three.
 On to stabilization!
IBIS (In Built Image Stabilization)

 IBIS is when the sensor moves after your hand starts shaking to keep the shake in
the minimal. This can also be used alongside the next type.

 On to OIS!
OIS (Optical Image Stabilization)

 Now how this differs against IBIS is instead of being held in the camera sensor, it
is held in the lens! It has the same purpose. Some lenses have this and some don’t.
Stabilization

 Only the Canon EOS R7 has IBIS.

 On to the final topic, sensor size!
Full frame

 This sensor size is well liked because it has good low light capabilities, better bokeh,
background blur and a wider field of view.
APSC

 This is the next step down from Full Frame, it is slightly smaller and gives worse
bokeh, less depth of field and a shallower field of view. But it is cheaper.
Sensors

 The R7 has an APSC sensor, it is cheaper but they both have the same base price.
The R8 has full frame and its still the same price. That’s why the R7 is more
feature packed.
 All Full Frame Lenses can be used by APSC sensors, but Full Frame camera’s
can’t use APSC lenses.
Thank you very much for reading!

 Yes, this is the actual end.

 (Not really if you click forward you’ll find the Lens comparisons)
 (But if you already chose the R8, then end of slides I guess)
Canon RF 24-105MM F4L VS CANON
EF 24-105MM F4L
Introduction

 The EF series lens is older but can be converted, and is much cheaper.
 The RF series lens is newer and is much more expensive, this cannot be
converted.
 You can use both lenses with the R8
 You can only use the EF lens with a speed booster with the R7.
 For no confusion, I will talk about the lenses in Full Frame.
EF Advantages

 Include:
(oh yeah and no funny pictures cause I'm tired)
It’s cheaper!

 It is literally dirt cheap.

EF Disadvantages

 Include:
(still no funny pictures)
Slightly Slower AF

 The AutoFocus is slightly slower, but still fast due to USM.

Now here's the big one!

 Worse Image Quality!

 The older lenses didn’t have the newer coatings we have nowadays. They also
didn’t have the technology we have now to create the best lenses in the world
(why It’s so cheap)
RF Advantages

 Include:
(no funny photos)
Image Quality

 Best IQ in the world!

Due to amazing coatings.
Fastest AF!

 The USM motors are even faster than the other USM motors!
Build Quality!

 This Lens is built better because we have more technology nowadays! (2005 vs
2018)
 And this makes the lens have more longevity over the EF lens aswell!
RF Disadvantages

 Include:
(you guessed it still no funny photos)
Very expensive!

 It is incredibly expensive!
No APSC speed boosters!

 Well, I kind of lied in the introduction. You can use the RF lens with APSC lenses
but it will be a terrible experience as there is no RF to RF mount speed booster.
That means incredibly slow apertures and incredibly zoomed in photos.
The end end

 Thank you!
