atoms continually travel from the atmosphere to the
Earth and then back into the atmosphere.

Photosynthesis
What is
photosynthesis ?
Photosynthesis is the process by which green plants make their own food .
This requires these conditions light from the sun chlorophyll , green pigment, (found in the chloroplast of the
leaf). Raw materials such as carbon dioxide and water.

Respiration in plants and

animals
Respiration in plants and animals
Plants
Animals Plants have pores ,these pores are called stomata.
Exchange of gases occur through the stomata. The
Animals inhale air through their opening of the stomata is controlled by guard cells.
respiratory tract internally oxygen is
carried via the lungs and exhaling carbon During the day photosynthesis and respiration take
dioxide as a byproduct. place at the same time and at night when there is no
sunlight plants only perform respiration.
04

Decomposition
Decomposition

Decomposition is the process by which dead organic substances

are broken down into simpler organic or inorganic matter
such as carbon dioxide, water, simple sugars and mineral salts.
05

Fossilization
Fossilization

What is fossilization? Examples

Four types of fossils:
Fossilization is the process of
• insect preserved in amber
an animal or plant becoming • petrified wood (permineralization)
preserved in a hard, petrified • cast and mold of a clam shell
form. • compression fossil of a fern.

Combustion
Combustion

What is it?
● Combustion is a chemical reaction that occurs
between a fuel and an oxidizing agent that produces
energy, usually in the form of heat and light. It
means to burn something.
