• A blended approach would be used in teaching
FCOS 406 - both online & face – to – face:
– Thursday’s (9: 30 am – 12.30 am) at FIDUA
– 7:30 am – 9:30 am is for preparation before
Class
– There will be an online link on SAKAI

WHAT FCOS 406 IS ALL ABOUT
• This is a practical course which involves field work in a
selected community.
• It enables students apply:
– The principles and techniques; different extension and
communication methods studied in FCOS 405 in the
development, implementation and evaluation of
extension activities.

ACTIVITY
• The Department of Family & Consumer Sciences wants to
contribute its quota to thier community.
• As an Extension Agent, plan extension activities for these
community members.
• Prepare a detailed programme plan, and work plan for these
activities

ISSUE FOR DISCUSSION
• The top down approach has been used to group
you into 12 groups.
• This will be put online.
• Contact your course representative and the TA
(Judith) too for your groups.

• You will record/video your activity while
implementing it and then we would evaluate that
activity in class
• You will then write your final report after the
evaluation
• Samples of the plans and final report would be
posted on SAKAI.

• There are a few things you must note:
– Take writing of every group report seriously because
that can move you from a lower grade to a higher one
– Make sure you submit all reports on time
– You are going to be working in groups so everyone
should contribute to make the group achieve their
goal.

• Moral of the story:
– Develop the healthy culture of accountability
and good team work.
– Everyone in the group should do their bit and
not expect others to do it otherwise nothing
gets done and vice versa.
– In the end you would all be graded equally and
your grades may suffer

– Lesson/work plan:- 30th May
– Implementation of workplan:- 6th - 20th June
– Evaluation of extension activities:- 27 th June & 4th July
– Final report:- 11th - 18th July
– Submission of final report:- 18th July 2024
