Capacity Building Training Of

Teachers For Disaster Recovery Of

Effected Children Of Christian
Community in Tehsil Jaranwala

COLLABORATIVE PROJECT OF ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER

JARANWALA, SCHOOL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT JARANWALA
AND PAKISTAN MINORITIES TEACHER ASSOCIATION
INTRODUCTION
Tragic incident of anti-minority mob violence has effected every person directly and indirectly.
Recovery process has started and children are going back to schools now. Their learning process
has started but the following problems in Christian students are identified by Dy.DEOs (male and
female) of Jaranwala and Javeria Azam SST(CS) as a teacher and a Ph.D. Education scholar during
working on assignments of safe and secure learning process for effected students.
There are two types of effected students
1. Who are directly effected by vandalism and
2. Who they are not directly effected but they saw this incident and it impacted badly on their
mind.
Due to shock and trauma the students are going through
• emotional irregularities and out-burst
• Withdrawal (they don’t want to learn)
• Conflicts with peers and teachers too.
TEACHERS ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES IN THIS SITUATION HAS RAISED A LOT. THERE IS A MASSIVE NEED TO
CONDUCT A TRAINING SESSION FOR TEACHERS AND HEAD TEACHERS.
REASONS
THE TEACHERS / HEAD TEACHERS AND ASSISTANT EDUCATION OFFICERS HAVE NEVER BEEN RECEIVED ANY
TRAINING REGARDING
• DISASTER MANAGEMENT.
• DEALING AND UNDERSTANDING ISSUES OF TRAUMA STUDENTS.
• STRATEGIES TO MAKE CLASSROOMS SAFE AND SECURE FOR EFFECTED STUDENTS
• DEALING WITH RELIGIOUS DIVERSITY.
• CONFLICT AND CRISIS MANAGEMENT

PAKISTAN HAS SCARCITY OF RESOURCES AND WE CAN’T WAIT TO INITIATE A FORMAL TRAINING OF TEACHERS
ON ABOVE SAID PROBLEMS BECAUSE IT IS A TIME TAKING ISSUE. AS THE PART OF POST RECOVERY PROCESS,
THE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT OF TEHSIL JARANWALA WITH COLLABORATION OF PAKISTAN MINORITIES
TEACHER ASSOCIATION UNDER ADMINISTRATION OF ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER JARANWALA HAS DECIDED TO
CONDUCT A TRAINING WORKSHOP TO THE MASTER TRAINERS WHO THEN CONDUCT THE TRAINING OF THEIR
STAFF MEMBERS IN SCHOOLS AND MONITOR THE SAFE AND SOUND LEARNING ENVIRONMENT FOR CHILDREN.
