Administration Department:

 Non-Clinical body of hospital


 Main entrance lobby, paperwork, staff offices.
 Further divided into public, semi-public and Public Semi-Public Private
private.
 Public and Semi-public functions closer to
the main entrance and easily accessible

 Further divided into Sub-waiting area and main

 Main waiting area is larger and provided at entrance
lobby.
 Sub-waiting area comparatively for less number of
people, in corridors front of other departments
 Space for sub waiting area is 0.75 sq.m. for 1/3 rd
attendance ta each department.

Outpatient Department

 Clinics for daytime consultation with doctors.


 In general hospital, all kinds of clinics are found
 Each clinic should have it own waiting area.
 OPD are of two types: Centralized and Decentralized.
 60% of OPD area should be circulation and waiting
area.
 Average size for a clinic is 150sq.ft. with 80sq.ft.
examination room.
 Depending upon the types of patient in hospital, OPD
separated into 3 types: Emergency Outpatient, Referred
Outpatient and General Outpatient.

 Emergency Outpatient (Emergency Department):

 Known as “Front Door” of hospital


 Separate entrance with unloading portico
should be provided
 Should be marked properly in red color
 Should cover at least 145 sq.m.
 Should me close to main entrance.

 Unloading portico covered for rain protection and
sunlight.
 Triage area for not urgent cases.
 Treatment area which can fit mobile bed (15 sq.m.)

treatment area.
 Observation beds should be provided in big
hall.
