Vegetables
The term "vegetables and fruits"
generally refers to the edible parts
of plants. Vegetables are generally
derived from roots, leaves, stems,
flowers, or seeds, while fruits are
the flowering and seed-bearing
parts of plants.
However, the edible parts of
some plants can be considered
vegetables and fruits. For
example, while tomatoes are
considered a fruit, they are also
used as a vegetable because of
the way they are cooked and
eaten.
Vegetables and fruits are rich
sources of vitamins, minerals,
fiber and other nutrients that our
body needs. In a healthy diet, it is
recommended to eat enough each
day.

— They help lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

— They keep the skin healthy and reduce the signs of aging.
— They have properties that reduce the risk of cancer.
— They are good for eye health and have preventive properties for age-
related vision loss.
For these reasons, eating enough vegetables every
day is important for a healthy life.
Daily need for vegetables
A person should eat several
servings of vegetables every
day. A healthy diet includes eating
enough vegetables. The World
Health Organization recommends
eating at least 400 grams of
vegetables and fruits per day.
Eating vegetables along with
nutrients like proteins, carbohydrates
and fats in a healthy diet provides a
balanced diet and helps our body get
all the nutrients it needs.
It should be remembered that each
vegetable contains different vitamins,
minerals and antioxidants. Therefore,
eating a variety of vegetables helps
our body get all the nutrients it
needs. For example, vegetables such
as spinach , broccoli , carrots,
zucchini, red peppers, eggplant,
tomatoes and onions are known to be
rich in various vitamins and minerals.
