signs shall there be from heaven.

nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
and there shall be famines, and
pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers

•Earthquake is a vibratory shaking of
the ground cause by some sudden
disturbances of natural origin within
the earth. Even as deep as 400 miles
causes can be tectonic (dislocation or
slippage of rocks along a fault) or
volcanic (cause sudden movement of
liquid lava below the surface or near
beneath)
I. BECAUSE IT IS THE
PROPHESY OF THE
LORD TO HAPPEN
• Mark 13:8 For nation shall rise against nation, and
kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be
earthquakes in divers places, and there shall
be famines and troubles: these are the
beginnings of sorrows.
• Luke 21:11 And great earthquakes shall be in
divers places, and famines, and pestilences;
and fearful sights and great signs shall there
be from heaven.
• 1 Kings 19:11 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon
the mount before the LORD. And, behold,
the LORD passed by, and a great and strong
wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces
the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was
not in the wind: and after the wind an
earthquake; but the LORD was not in the
earthquake:
• 1 Kings 19:12 And after the earthquake a fire; but
the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire
a still small voice.
II. EARTHQUAKE
PERHAPS IS A FORM
OF JUDGEMENT
• Revelation 16:18 And there were voices, and thunders,
and lightnings; and there was a great
earthquake, such as was not since men were
upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and
so great.
• Revelation 6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the
sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great
earthquake; and the sun became black as
sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as
blood;
• Revelation 8:5 And the angel took the censer, and
filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into
the earth: and there were voices, and
thunderings, and lightnings, and an
earthquake.
• Revelation 11:13 And the same hour was there a great
earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell,
and in the earthquake were slain of men seven
thousand: and the remnant were affrighted,
and gave glory to the God of heaven.
• Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came
to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan
came also among them
• Job 2:1Again there was a day when the sons of God
came to present themselves before the LORD, and
Satan came also among them to present himself
before the LORD.
• John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to
kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have

III. EARTHQUAKE
SHOWS THAT THE
HELL IS ENLARGING
• Isaiah 5:14 Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and
opened her mouth without measure: and their
glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and
he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.
• Isaiah 14:9 Hell from beneath is moved for thee to
meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead
for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it
hath raised up from their thrones all the kings
of the nations.
•Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate:
for wide is the gate, and broad is the
way, that leadeth to destruction, and
many there be which go in thereat:
•Matthew 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and
narrow is the way, which leadeth unto
life, and few there be that find it.
• Numbers 16:32 And the earth opened her mouth, and
swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the
men that appertained unto Korah, and all their
goods.
• Numbers 16:33 They, and all that appertained to them,
went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed
upon them: and they perished from among the
congregation.
• Numbers 16:34 And all Israel that were round about them
fled at the cry of them: for they said, Lest the earth
swallow us up also.
• John 8:13 The Pharisees therefore said unto him,
Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not
true.

hands on him; for his hour was not yet come.

charging the jailor to keep them safely:

their feet fast in the stocks.

and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners
heard them.
• Acts 16:26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake,
so that the foundations of the prison were shaken:
and immediately all the doors were opened, and
every one's bands were loosed.
• Acts 16:27 And the keeper of the prison awaking out of
his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew
out his sword, and would have killed himself,
supposing that the prisoners had been fled.
• Acts 16:28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do
thyself no harm: for we are all here.
• Acts 16:29 Then he called for a light, and sprang
in, and came trembling, and fell down before
Paul and Silas,
• Acts 16:30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs,
what must I do to be saved?
• Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord
Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy
house.
• Acts 16:32 And they spake unto him the word of the
Lord, and to all that were in his house.
• Acts 16:33 And he took them the same hour of the
night, and washed their stripes; and was
baptized, he and all his, straightway.
• Acts 16:34 And when he had brought them into his
house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced,
believing in God with all his house.
CHRIST RESURRECTION HAS EARTHQUAKE
•Matthew 28:2 And, behold, there was a great
earthquake: for the angel of the Lord
descended from heaven, and came and
rolled back the stone from the door, and
sat upon it.
Christ is Sins Bearer
• 1 Peter 3:18-20 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins,
the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to
God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened
by the Spirit: By which also he went and preached
unto the spirits in prison; Which sometime were
disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God
waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a
preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were
saved by water.
HELL ( Hades, Sheol, Gehenna)
• Mark 9:43-44 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for
thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go
into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where
their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
• Luke 16:23-24 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments,
and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And
he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and
send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water,
and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
• Eph.4:7 But unto every one of us is given grace according
to the measure of the gift of Christ.
• Eph.4:8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on
high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
• Eph.4:9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also
descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
• Eph.4:10 He that descended is the same also that ascended
up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
• Eph.4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets;
and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
• 1 Thess. 4:13 But I would not have you to be ignorant,
brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye
sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
• 1 Thess. 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose
again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will
God bring with him.
• 1 Thess. 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the
Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the
coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which
are asleep.
• 1 Thess. 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend
from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the
archangel, and with the trump of God: and
the dead in Christ shall rise first:
• 1 Thess. 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain
shall be caught up together with them in the
clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so
shall we ever be with the Lord.
