ILOILO CITY
Iloilo, officially the Province of Iloilo, is a province
in the Philippines located in the Western Visayas
region. Its capital is Iloilo City, the regional center.
Iloilo occupies a significant southeast portion of
the Visayan island of Panay and is bordered by
Antique, Capiz, Jintotolo Channel, Guimaras Strait,
and Iloilo Strait.

decorative carvings. It stands across the
town plaza and St. Anne Parish Church in
Molo district and was occupied by Dona

ILOILO RIVER ESPLANADE

The Iloilo River Esplanade is a 9-kilometer-


long urban esplanade and linear park in
Iloilo City, Philippines. It is the longest
linear park in the country and was designed
by landscape architect Paulo Alcazaren. As
part of the Iloilo River Rehabilitation
Project, it has become a popular tourist
attraction, attracting thousands of visitors
annually. In 2018, the park was recognized
as a "Haligi ng Dangal" awardee for
Landscape Architecture by the National
Commission for Culture and the Arts.
BUCARI PINE FOREST
Bucari Pine Forest, known as the "Little Baguio
of Iloilo," in Leon offers a peaceful escape from
technology-saturated lives with its hundreds of
towering pine trees and cold climate, perfect
for overnight camping or day hikes.
The Mansiga Viewing Deck offers a breathtaking
view of the mountainside, surrounded by fallen
pine trees. Visitors can explore the area or
enjoy a picnic in the shade. For thrill-seekers, a
30-45 minute trek leads to the top, where they
can take a photo at the edge of the tree,
creating a movie-like atmosphere.

ILOILO DOCTORS HOSPITAL
IDH, founded in 1968, opened its doors in 1971 with
150 beds and 20 bassinets. It provided secondary care
facilities in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics-
Gynecology, and Pediatrics. From 1972-1973, it served
as a clinical area for nursing and paramedical
students of the Iloilo Doctors' School of Nursing and
Midwifery. Over time, the need for expansion grew,
leading to a consortium with the city's state college
to provide clinical experience for medical students.
This agreement led to an additional 70 private and
semi-private beds. The annex was completed in 1976,
turning IDH into a 240-bed medical center. It offered
departmentalized services in Medicine, Surgery,
Obstetrics-Gynecology, EENT, and Pediatrics for both
in- and out-patients. IDH also had an accredited
residency-training program and trained personnel.
The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine was
established to expedite patient recovery and return
to social and community life.
