Thread Consumption

The document discusses various methods for calculating thread consumption in garment manufacturing. It reviews several past studies that developed mathematical, geometrical, and statistical models to predict thread usage based on factors like fabric thickness, stitch density, thread count, seam type, and number of fabric layers. The literature review found that geometrical models generally provide more accurate results than statistical models. Neural network models also performed well with less error compared to theoretical and linear regression approaches. Overall, the studies showed that thread consumption increases with higher fabric thickness, stitch density, and number of fabric layers.

“texere” mean to weave .  Completely stitched fabric or
o Literally its mean a weaved fabric but its
 Semi stitched fabric or
also include
 Un-stitched fabric
 Weaved Fabric
o Basically it is a Barrier between Human body
 Knitted Fabric
and Environment , which protects it from harsh
 Non-Woven fabric situations and provide good look.

RESEARCH GAP

From literature survey we found that no proper study done on Thread tension adjustment in a proper and right way,
which describe some more factors that can affect thread consumption along-with other factors like; thread count,
thread composition, number of folds in fabric, number of plies in thread and technique of thread manufacturing .
OVERALL AIM OF THE RESEARCH

The aim of our research is to study the (factors that affect thread consumption in general) and the affect of thread
tension on thread consumption in specific.
OBJECTIVES
 Denim fabric selection with specified G.S.M and varying number of folds(2 fold , 3 fold e.t.c)

 Study by adjusting thread tension properly because consumption is affected by tension thus we can maintain the
inventory cost of raw material in production.
 Needle thread and bobbin thread adjustment. Too loose tension results in increase consumption, open seam, loose
seams, loops visible on top or bottom side of the stitched garment. Too tight tension cause seam puckering, seam
break easily when stretched which lead to less consumption and poor quality and broken seam at early stages of
usages.
 The interlocking needle thread and bobbin thread must have balanced tension to form an even stitch (by making
lock of needle and bobbin thread between exactly middle of the fabric plies with proper tension).
 Findings, result and discussion.
