STRIKING GAMES
These are activities in which
players score points by striking an
object and running to designated
playing areas or prevent
opponents from scoring by
retrieving the object and returning
it to stop the play.
KICKBALL
ThisFilipino game is a rendition
of baseball instead of holding a
bat; this game uses foot to kick
the ball where its goal is to hit the
members of the opposing team
using a ball. This is played in a
diamond shape playground.
Here are some skills included in the
game kickball.
Running
Here are some skills included in the

Catching
Here are some skills included in the
game kickball.
Striking
Safety measures in playing
Kickball:
1. Roll the ball with force towards to
the kicker to make the game more
exciting. Be sure that no thing or tool
can hit the ball.
2. Use a beanbag in each base for
them to step on before the player can
kick the ball.
3. Be sure to kick the ball nicely
towards to the co -fielders.
Safety measures in playing
Kickball:
4. Stick to the rules of the game that for
every player will be given a chance to kick
the ball three times but if the kicker unable
to do the task of kicking the ball right he
will be out of the game.
5. The home base should be a thin rubber
string or thin piece of wood that buried on
the ground so that the ball can roll directly
to the pitcher without any hindrance.
Materials:
Rattan ball/ football ball/ kid’s
toy ball
Bean bag as base
Rubber or thin piece of wood
(12x24 in size)
Meter
How to Play?
1. Draw a rectangular shape playground just
like in the softball having four base and 18
meters in size the distance between each
base.
2. For every corner there is a base. First,
second, third and the home base. You may
burry a rubber tire that serves as the home
base.
3. From the home base, draw a line having
2 meters long in the middle of the
rectangular playground.
How to Play?
4. Form a group consisting of 9 members each. Just
like in the softball, each team has a pitcher,
catcher, and guard in the three bases, short stop,
right and left fielder. The catcher will place at the
back of the home base. He is in charge of returning
the ball to the pitcher just in case the ball failed to
kick.
5. The leader of the group will decide who will be
the fielder and the IT.
6. The pitcher will start the game by rolling the ball
he has towards to the kicker and must need to
make ball very far from the rest.
How to Play?
7. Once the player kicked the ball he must need to
run and will go around the rectangular playground
and need to go in their home base immediately.
8. The player who kicked the ball must have to
reach the home base right away. He can get a point
for their team, but if the ball reaches first the home
base the player will be out of the game.
9. Avoid making three mistakes in kicking the ball
or else he will be the next IT. Most number of
points declared to be the winner.
10. Players who arrange in the line as the kicker
cannot be replaced by anyone until the game is
over..
Remember!
Enhancing of Power is important
in order for it to serve its purpose.
Throwing of ball, rolling, kicking,
and high jumping are good in
enhancing of power in our body. It
suggests to do the activity
habitually for the mastery of
acquired skills.
SUGGESTED GAME:
SYATO
Striking Games
SYATO
Syato has many different names.
Some of them are shatong,
chato/chatong, shatung, and pitiw
( a Visayan term). In this game
skills are need to develop are
running, catching, striking or
hitting that requires endurance of
the muscles and power.
Syato or shatong is mostly
played by two teams having 2
players in each group. This is
played in an open space like
field or quadrangle. The
objective of this game is to
earn points by catching the
sticks.
Striking
Running
Catching
In playing syato, there’s a lot
of skills being develop and
acquired by each player. Some
of these are striking or hitting,
running and catching. For the
player who is the striker it is
an advantage if he can hit the
sticks with enough force for it
to fly and can go far.
Safety measures in playing
Syato:
1. It is good to look for a place wherein there is
an open space like field or quadrangle and the
player can dig a hole for them to use in the
game.
2. The IT should be careful in catching the
sticks.
3. Choose a light stick and having equal length
so the players can use it properly.
4. Striking the sticks is the only way to play the
game; it cannot be throw away to the IT.
5. Be careful in every movement you will do like
catching and running.
Materials:
2 pieces of stick about an
inch in diameter ( one
long, about a foot and
the other short, about
half a feet).
How to Play:
Players must dig a hole on the ground and
place the shorter stick on top of it
horizontally. If you are playing on a
concrete ground, you may usea rock and
place the short stick above it.
2. Players may use “ jack n’ poy” or ‘’maiba
taya’’ to know their teammates. And for
each team to know who gets to play first,
one player of each team must hit the stick
as hard as they can. The team’s stick which
lands the farthest distance gets to play first.
How to Play:
3. The first player of the first team must now throw
the short stick from the hole using the longer stick.
If the opponent is not able to catch it, the first
team continuously plays until the opponent catches
it.
4. The next player hits the short stick farther away.
If the opponent is not able to catch the stick, the
team will continue to play until its last member. If
all of the players had their turn, the IT must now
get the stick and run towards their base while
shouting “ syatoooooooo!”. If the IT was able to run
to their base while shouting, their team gets to play
first. And if not, they are still the IT.
Remember:
Playing a Syato makes our
cardiovascular endurance
healthy and strong . Skills like
catching, striking or hitting
and running are activities that
strengthen the components of
physical fitness.
