PUPPETS

DEFINITION:
Puppet are inanimate figures or subject
manipulated by a puppeteer to create the illusion
of movement and speech. The primary motive of
using puppet to educate the student
CHARACTERISTICS:
• Manipulation: puppet are typically controlled by a puppeteer who
uses strings, rods, or their hands to manipulate the movement of the
puppet
• Representation: puppet represent character or object often with a
artistic interpretation.
• Medium: they can be made from various material including fabric,
wood, clay, and even metals.
• Voice or Sound: some puppet are equipped with mechanism for
producing sound while other relay on the puppeteer
PURPOSE:
• Motivate students
• Puppet are valuable tool for education
• They create interest
• Puppet can be used as a medium for communication and self expression
• Puppet can employed in advertising and marketing campaign to capture
attention
TYPES OF PUPPETS:
• String or Marionette Puppet : marionettes consists of puppet with hinged body
parts which are controlled by strings producing the required movement in the
puppet
• Stick Puppet: They are painted cut-outs attached by stick. Action of these
puppet are controlled by puppeteer by hiding behind a screen
• Shadow Puppet: They are outline of cardboard that produce shadows on a
white screen.
• Finger Puppets : Hand puppets are round balls painted as heads with over
flowing, colourful costumes.

• They create interest
• They give knowledge in a brief period
• They are an effective method in teaching
• They motivate student.
• They are easy to carry and operate
LIMITATIONS:
• They need group coordination and cooperation
• They required skills in preparation and supply
